not saying that either of y'all have really ridiculous views on game development--where just because something like key rebinding is common means it is easy to add and therefore "tHe DeVs ArE sCuM wHo DoN't CaRe AbOuT uS!!1!"--but just a heads up to those dinguses: control rebinding is actually pretty difficult to add later in development, depending on your engine and how messy your code is because it's not something you add in during the prototyping stage (why add such things into a prototype you may very well toss out?). it's something you only start to consider once you've committed to the game's development, and by then it can become a "we'll add it in later" thing. take two seconds of a game development class or watch any game dev logs on YT and it's pretty understandable. I don't mind waiting for the game to have key rebinding implemented eventually (besides, I got it at a very good launch price on Humble), but I do hope that losers here will stop being nasty to the devs about it.
Downside is prompts not reflecting the actual control.
i have dev in several games as well as gamejams. i understand the process as well as implementation of such thing. thought admittedly it is different for every group as there is no one way to dev a game. my one gripe to say its made for console in mind is the placement of keys and the lack of rebinding. the biggest flaw for keyboard is the fact they have placed way to much stress on the left hand. you have a mouse and many games use the mouse for multiple purposes. where in the game its to swing and that's all. but that's because it translated much more easier from the controller. i honestly dont have any hard feelings about this with the dev's or anything. does it suck? yes, but there is something that sucks in every game. but i will say this is the first game that has ever made my hand hurt from playing it which does say something. i wish they gave how they set up the keyboard a little more attention even if they had no intention of adding rebinding. if the controls were more balanced for the user then there would most likely be no complaints... well i take that back. this is steam forums everyone complain here.
can you patch in the same access for controller use?? it would be very helpful to some players if we could remap the controller as well
1) you necro'd a thread from back in September when we couldn't... 2) I already knew that they patched in rebindable controls. someone already mentioned it earlier in the thread and I posted a positive user review once I spent some time with the game after said patch.
can we please close this thread?
(edit for typo and again for clarity.)
I had the same issue at the beginning, but after some hours of playing I took the trick and I was able to get until the end of the game, which is by the way a very good game.
Cheers!
