I started with the fan too... and stayed with it until I found the Falchion and Sabre. You find it before the second boss.

The weapon I like most is the Fire and Ice dual blades.
I finished the game and the DLC with them. They deal fire, ice and immobilization damage real quick... and you can counter with them. 👍🏽

I went with the dancer as well. Seems to me that this game was made with that class in mind the most, given the faster paced combat. I used the starter fans for quite a bit then went with the nemesis fans, and have been using them exclusively. They will scale to S+ in Agility at max level (level 9 in new game+). I also upgraded the Fire and Ice a bit but the fans are hitting a little better for me. I like the weapons with the counter-attack sill the most, pretty satisfying to use.

I went with the Soldier, halfway through the game and destroying everything without many issues. The halberd with the shield skill is a beast of a weapon.

It's the special move of the weapons. While the Nemesis Claws can be used to counterattack, the Charleville musket and other weapons can be used as a shield. 👍🏽

I tried all of them at the starting area. The soldier was the easiest to play, but the alchemist is likely to be the most fun.
alch

Counter attack claws and spec into break and crit life leech is completely busted XD

I started with the Alchemist but for now i use the sabre and falchion as it works best for me so far. Iam not so far in the game, just got a carriage and hope i find some dual blades with some elemental damage down the road.

I started with the fan, got the Halberd, never let it go unless for testing other stuff, it is just that broken.
Still, given you use properly everything can be broken, but the Halberd just have range, damage and a hallberd can be the combination of huge range melee and ranged.

I like fans with parrying - nemesis, Griboval's halberd with shooting, absolutely different game experience, I would say, and St. Elmo's batons are good to beat with electricity. Angel halbert with swing is good choise anywere. The choice is more based on the aesthetics and style of the game.

I love the claws, they immobilize very quickly and the counter knocks down medium size enemies. Also, chains are good for hitting all enemies at once and cause burning and they have a lot of range.

*High-fives!* Halberds are beasts! xD

Thought I responded to this ages ago, lol. But yeah, this was exactly the same for me, lol. And I agree, the Gribeauval Halberd (named after Jean-Baptiste Vaquette de Gribeauval, btw) is already a solid weapon, but with its ranged special attack it's just downright mean. Go Halberd Team! xD

Though lately, the last time I played anyway, I've been trying to get much more proficient in (and getting ever closer to perfecting) parrying and counterattacking. That's also a fun playstyle to try!
