Plague Tale Requiem isn't a bad optimized game, it's a very demanding game, though. You can only brute force a decent performance using a RTX 4000 series card, which is obviously unfair, but it will work. They also improved performance, even on PC, a few weeks after the game got released. Digital Foundry made a video about it. This is something that this game needs too, a performance patch.
The Witcher 3 Next Gen, even with RT disabled still runs badly. I can't reach 60fps even at the lowest settings with RT disabled, on a 2060. It wasn't like that before.
I think articles like this serve to show that people don't just play a badly optimized game and then move on. The PC community is often left with very bad ports, so this kind of "list of shame" is a good wake up call for the devs, if they happen to stumble upon these kinds of articles
You can disagree as much as you want, won't change the fact that the patch released for Plague Tale made performance better, which again was something that DF showed on their video analysis and Witcher 3 is still a broken game. Just because it works for you, it doesn't mean the game is working fine for everyone. Steelrising is the worst game in terms of performance when compared to the other 2 games. At least i know that Plague Tale Requiem is a very GPU heavy game and i can live with 30fps. Steelrising, on the other hand, performs like Plague Tale but looks way worse than that game.
Same can be said about your statement regarding The Witcher 3. It works fine for you, but not for me and a lot of other people. DF at least made the comparison using software to measure frametime and framerate, so obviously they have more credibility than you or me. Alex is very critical about games with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ performance on PC and he always points out the flaws that he finds and they even admit that Asobo pushed things too hard this time around.
When i first played the game on Gamepass i didn't have any issues mantaining 30fps at 1440p with everything on High. Also, no stutters, which is something that happens too often in most games i play. I knew i wouldn't be able to reach 60fps on my hardware but i was OK with that. Not with Steelrising, though, which ran OK in the first level and then ran like trash in the second level.
And i would add that most people would have issues running Plague Tale anyway because, again, that game is very GPU heavy, but that's on purpose This is more of a future proof game than a game that wasn't well optimized. Steelrising isn't even running properly on PCs with 3090s. A game that uses 24gb of VRAM...do you think this is normal? Plague Tale Requiem doesn't run like ass if you have the right GPU. It isn't the ideal situation, since the game should run in more GPUs, but this was Asobo's choice, a bad choice, but it was their choice. This is a game that demands a lot from your hardware. They won't change that. Steelrising doesn't fall into this category...at all.
Yes, exactly. The game itself is really good and fun. In my opinion, one of the better souls-like games, but performance is horrible. What pissed me off was the way the devs faced our criticism towards their game. "Just lower your graphics and resolution". That kind of answer is, at least to me, a big "♥♥♥♥ you" for those who bought the game, and that's a shame because the game is really good.
Really doesn't matter if you disagree with a fact, the fact remains.
