What does "equip yourself" mean?

I gave up before I found out.

Entered and seemed cool went up to some doors inside at the top of some stairs and bots came out when I saw "equip yourself"

My first thought was, "I am me, am I not equipped?"

My second thought was "Do I have a weapon and need to find an inventory screen to equip it on my character?"

My third thought was "Well I do have time to figure it out since I will probably have to watch the guards for an hour to see if I can find a patter to the movements and avoid them"

My fourth thought was "I don't want to play a boring stealth game to see some ads, I give up"

So in the end I assume "equip yourself" actually is supposed to mean "find a weapon" or something but I just don't know.

Are the devs native tongue not English?
