What is the point of Rivers?
I've done some simple playtesting and I've noticed that the river does NOT affect meadows, deserts, or forests. So, what's the point of the river besides spawning fish people? Seems like it's wasted potential.

I don't know what testing you've been doing my friend, but I end up with almost 200% attack speed on Necromancer just from river + trees. If you're looking at the actual trees, the tooltip there doesn't update. Check the overall stats before then after placing a card next to a river to see the actual results. Maybe that's what mislead you. Cheers!

You haven't done proper testing.
Rivers stop being rivers when placed next to the road or a desert.
They work properly everywhere else and the change is clearly indicated it your character's stats.

They do affect meadows and forests, doubling their effects if they are right next to a river. Deserts change rivers into oasis, which has a different effect (-0.5 hero attack speed, -1 attack speed to everything else)

It affects the forrest so try to make a long river and you will see.
Using the river with the desert changes the river to an oasis, meadows transform into blooming meadows when near another tile anyway
Suburbs is not worth it.
And everyone else here will tell you how good forrest are with rivers.
Keep in mind most advice people give is from endgame where you get plenty of cards, you have a lot of passive buffs from from equiped items in the supply

I think he was maybe just expecting to see the actual card change the face value. It'd be great if it worked that way, but when it comes to card plays, it's best to glance at your stat sheet before and after if you're testing something.

I had something over 360% attack speed bonus on necromancer from thicket+river on my last run. They double the effect of all adjacent landscape cards. They only transform dunes, the loop, and battlefields though.

The warrior I had with 300+ HP per day disagrees with you about rivers not working on Meadows.
DivineEvil Mar 12, 2021 @ 7:34am
Rivers work on everything they're stated to work on, i.e. all landscape tiles.
Your testing, apparently, was too simple.

If you're judging by the tooltip of the tile itself, that never changes. You have to look at your character's stats and do the math yourself.

All of you have said I'm wrong. I have tested it and don't agree. I've placed meadows, forests, deserts, rocks, etc against my river tiles and have not seen a "doubling" as the card reads. I hover over my stat sheet and do NOT see a change beyond the normal change from placing said tiles. Shrug. I'm on Loop Hero hiatus until a few balancing and game tweaks happen. World 4 is just a boring grindfest.

Congratulations on being blind I guess? Rivers work exactly as stated, lol. You are either blind or trolling.

You're doing it wrong, a river next to sand makes an oasis and a river next to a forest doubles the attack speed buff. Also world four can be completed by loop 8...

I have noticed an interesting river behavior, in that surrounding a tile with two rivers quadruples its effectiveness—as would be expected. However, surrounding a tile with three rivers sextuples its effectiveness, and four rivers octuple its effectiveness. Anyone else test this? This is just what I got from trying it with thickets and reading my stat sheet.

First river doubles the tile, and then every river past the first one adds a double on top of that - so it's 1x>2x>4x>6x>8x
