Don't think there's another game that does exactly this combination of things. (which is probably why it got popular this quickly - cause it's something new and exciting)

There may be similar games if you only look at parts of it - Slay the Spire, if you take deck building and combat (yet the combat is not automatic, but is played with the cards as actions).

Generating / farming resources that you use to build things that generate more and different resources to build more and different things? While most of it happens automatically -> Forager. (also has combat, but the combat isn't automatic)

Not many to compare it to. Slay the Spire is a terrible comparison ^. The concept in the SNES title Act Raiser could be a very loose comparison but even that, it doesn’t really play similarly. This is a pretty unique combination of ideas which is why I think it’s doing so well.

it's along the lines of idlers there's a couple games out there where you form a pve party and they gather resources you build up your home, etc and continue to climb. This one does it differently by throwing cards in the mix but there's plenty of games like it. They're just not as well done.

I'll be honest with you. This is the first game I've played like this, and I really hope that we see more like it soon! If anyone knows I definitely hope they can point it out.

wait I have something for this... *goes into deep notes*

There is a game called 'Guild of Dungeoneering' which is a deck build, tile placement dungeon builder. I haven't played it myself, and it is still going to be distinct game play wise from loop hero, but it does check many of the same categories. You place the dungeon tiles, monsters, and treasure; you also control the combat through a card draw system.

Another game that is almost but not entirely unlike Loop Hero is 'Desktop Dungeons'. The similarities are a bit more of a stretch in this case, but it is a retro style arcade like order of operations resource management game. Fight smaller number monsters to level up and fight bigger number monsters, but healing from exploration is also a resource. Classes will have different approaches to the randomly generated maps. Ok its a completely different game play style but the progression and aesthetics of loop hero reminded me of it for some reason.

It's a interesting game, it's like a hybrid of all the rogue-likes and deck builder genres.
Plus the story premise itself is pretty interesting, I can't recall any other story that does this.

Yeah, I found it really interesting how strongly the story was connected to the gameplay. As if the game was developed around the idea of the story, with the gameplay mechanics emerging from that idea. Rather than a game that has a basic idea of gameplay and then gets a story tacked on.
