Game is unplayable on my laptop.
Hello,

I tried to post in the Bugreports Thread but didn't get any help.

The game runs OK on my PC, but it is unplayable on my laptop, I run other games with no issues: StS, Gwent, Train Monster, and many other games. So I am wondering if Loop Hero needs more powerful machine?

The issue I am getting is the gameplay lags to the point it is unplayable, and when I checked Task Manager, it appears that Loop Hero is using too much power, see the picture below.

I am using Microsoft Surface Book 2:
Inter Core i7-8650U CPU @ 1.90GHZ 2.11 GHz
RAM: 8GB
Nvidia GTX 1050
Windows 10

Any help is appreciated.

In the Options Menu, there is an option called "Alternative timing method" (bottom left). Have you tried that?

I checked Alternative timing method and sadly it is not lowering cpu usage as before, one of the last patches should break it (it was working like this before https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfjZpWeG--A ) . And i keep reading really good systems doing the same problem somehow, i mean really top end systems. Hopefully Devs will find out a better solution. Or maybe this is only happening on some spesific systems or some programs causing this. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1282730/discussions/0/3112522283879271712/

Also having the same issue and I've tried using various combinations of all the settings options. It seems like this was a known bug with previous versions, but it doesn't seem to be fully fixed.

It's def not a hardware issue, cuz i can run it just fine on my Core i3 6006U + intel HD 520. Back on MWH forum, i remember thousands of threads with the very same issue on lots of differents setups. In the end of the story, the issue was an AV called Webroot that was blocking the processes of the game... Maybe you guys are using some sort of software that is interfering within the game?

I´ve got the exact same issue... since the last patch. everything was fine before, now it´s slowmo from the start, no matter if i check the alternate setting. 100% GPU Usage.
Whatever you changed with the last patch caused that issue.

Thanks for sharing the thread.
Hope they fix this issue soon.

I know you guys are wanting a real fix for the issue. But I have a couple ideas for a bandaid.

The game's mechanics are tied to framerate. Lowering the framerate will lower the speed in game. You could mess with the variables.ini to slow it down. Or maybe use the cheatengine speedhack thing.

I just tried another thing here. On some emulators, we used to set the Affinity through Task Manager. You would right click the Process, set Affinity to even numbered cores, or odd numbered cores. Now I just tried it by selecting even numbered cores. The game still pulls 40% from cores 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11 (Threads I mean...not cores). But utilization of 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9 are 0%. This should lower your overall %. Meaning less CPU utilization overall.

Moreover, you could experiment and try limiting the game to only 1 core. I don't see why not. Im just throwing gimped options out there to maybe help you through it until a proper fix. Good luck.

I got the same issue. Tried win mode, alternative timing, turn off AV and nothing helped.
It's sad, such a great game, but the fan noise is annoying. Don't know why this game need so much performance, with this graphic and gameplay, it should run even on mobile with no issue.

Yeah at first game seems to runs fine on AMD 4500U Laptop, until i heard the fan blowing like crazy! Two cores 100% utilization!. Also while the game is in 'pause' mode. Also the onboard graphics is like 40% load all the time which is absolutely terrible for what the game renders on screen. I can play way more complex 3d titles on this onboard GPU. I play with headphones and can't stand the fan noise. This laptop I have is extremely quiet all the time except for this title.
