or grove+battlefield (possibly with chrono crystals), but no blood groves (they prevent ghosts from spawning)
You could use anything that spawns 'has a soul' enemies with battlefield, I just like ratwolves.
Spiders don't spawn ghosts, so they aren't great for expansion orbs.
I got 82 expansion orbs on my 1st run of chapter 4 lol.
They are one of the easiest resources to farm.
I like warrior for enemy spam farming - Arsenal gold card gives retaliation, add to counterstrike & damage to all and some vampirism...

In the real world, for farming them when you're starting out your Town, simply place a Treasure next to a tile full of Ratwolves and possibly Vampire if you can handle it. Keep in mind you can often get more of those in one post-boss run than you did getting to the boss in the first place due to how monsters stack up.
If you keep going you can get stupid amounts.
(Vamp villages will stop spawning ghouls, other stuff will stack up more.)
