MacOS 11.x (Apple M1)
Hello everyone.
We are trying to find a solution for those who cannot launch the game on Mac M1 computers.
Probably - it's the Apple processor. The Internet offers to install the Rosetta app.
Someone can check and, if helped, describe to another players - how to solve the problem?
Thank. Your FourQuarters.

Alas, enabling the "Open using Rosetta" option is not working on my M1 Macboook Air. Here's what I did:
1. Located the game file in: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/
2. Right-clicked the game file (Loop_Hero.app) and selected "Get Info"
3. Selected the "Open in Rosetta" check box.
However, the game still will not launch. Really hope you can get it working soon, as it looks like so much fun!

Right click->manage->browse local files->right click icon->get info-> check box "open with rosetta"

Alright. I got it to work following these guides:
Step 1: Find the file https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/78919/steam-mac-game-location
Step 2: Select Rossetta https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211861
Step 3: Open

Will there be a native M1 build of the game? I would like to know before purchasing, thanks!

Hi! We would love to, but it seems like it's game maker problem - it's not ready for M1 prosessors yet. When yoyogames releases proper tools, we'll update the game for sure
For now it looks like "open with Rosetta" works for a lot of people

Additional note - The game throws a crash after exiting the game (using Rosetta), but it doesn't seem to hurt anything.. save files all intact, etc.
So Rosetta seems to be OK at least for now. Hopefully GameMaker Studio will step up before too long and update.

FYI: It looks like it already does support Apple Silicon:
https://help.yoyogames.com/hc/en-us/articles/227860547-GMS2-Required-SDKs
“To enable "Apple Silicon" support in GMS2 2.3.1 currently requires Xcode 12 Beta (the non-Beta version does not contain the universal binaries tools) and macOS Catalina or Big Sur.”

I just had a crash when opening the game on my M1 Macbook Pro. The reason for the crash is that the libraries referenced from steam are x86, which is a mismatch to ARM code. Until the Steam app is updated and run in native code, I think Loop Hero must be run under Rosetta for now.

Dyld Error Message:
could not load inserted library '/Users/XXXX/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamloader.dylib' because no suitable image found. Did find:
/Users/XXXX/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamloader.dylib: no matching architecture in universal wrapper
/Users/XXXX/Library/Application Support/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS/steamloader.dylib: stat() failed with errno=1

I don't earn any achievements when I play this way btw. Not sure if it's normal.
Also, the game opens from steam even though it shows an error, which is weird.

A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

This solution worked perfectly for me.

Since GMS2 2.3.1 supports it, would you be able to make a universal build?

Can confirm - marking Loop Hero as "Open using Rosetta" just worked with me on my M1 Macbook Air (file location was: /Users/chrishanney/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Loop Hero/Loop_Hero.app)

What kind of issue are you having, and were you able to successfully set it to open using Rosetta?
