Their Own Peril + Ruins is overpowered
It's fun, and considering it takes a little ingenuity to get the synergy, I'm not totally in favor of removing it, but as it stands it makes bosses very easy. I went from not being able to get to the Hunter in level 4 to killing Omega on my first try. All you have to do is put Ruins on the first tile past the campfire, so by the time you loop around you have 4 worms backing you up in the boss fight.

Huh, I never thought to try that. That's a neat idea if you don't have a lot of Camp Items. (Gotta love the reliability of Storm Temple stack + Mirrors)

Iirc Peril has a 60% chance to deflect, so that's a 40% chance to get hit. I wouldn't rely on that since worms shoot quite fast, so a few bad rolls can cause a lot of extra damage. But the potential extra damage does make it worth the risk.

Aren't you running into the risk of getting shot by worms during boss fight? I usually put Ruins on the next tile after the village and make sure that there is a blood grove so no escaping from my hero.

You're guaranteed to get shot by the worms. However, boss fights are strictly a war of attrition, you just need the boss to die before you do, and 60% of the damage is going to the boss (not even counting your evade/defense/etc.) so it's a plus. Maybe it wouldn't help low-level characters who have much less survivability but that's a moot point since you need to beat the Hunter to unlock Their Own Peril.

Their Own Peril is an interesting way to kill boss in special situation, particularly in naked (and no supplies) runs. I tried it a few times way back then, it works but I wouldn't consider it op.

I'll be honest I haven't took this ability on my current playthrough since I was playing strictly necromancer and I did not wanted to clutter the skill pool with almost anything. By the time Omega shows up I already have over 200 attack speed and at least 6 skeletons. By end of the fight I usually loose less than 3rd of the health bar (most of the times I loose health due to he wipes out "Max skeleton" ability and I have to fight on my own for few seconds).

I mean, ruins are garbage outside of cheesey lamp abuse so I welcome it as a choice
