The game needs a good rebalancing.
You have to play this game like an old game, where you load and save a lot, else its gonna be a big bummer. If you accept that, I think its a positive they have missions that ♥♥♥♥ you over because then, you can create a solution and thats basically the tactics fun. At least thats how I see it.
Very true. Even though I've just managed to finish 'calla calla' in Nightmare difficulty, this game is almost zero tolerance of making any mistake (says, the "sequence" of all your moves of characters). So I gonna 'Save-Load' pretty often to see if the moves work.
You definitely have some great options to bring for the mission. Get some Desert Ranger handguns for Gin and Bill, who can get +1 damage with handguns to bump that up to 7 damage a shot. Together with a nail bomb you can kill 10hp enemies. Bill's ability is quite good as well, bringing multiple enemies down within kill range for a bravado streak. Enemies are bunched up for most of the mission, so consider giving Flynn a shotgun, she can make great use of it.
While revenants healing themselves back to full can be annoying, they do lose 1 max hp every time they do it. 10hp enemies will be reduced to 9hp, which put them in 1-shot range of Cla'lish with a rifle (using that +1 rifle damage trait).
The mission is definitely challenging, but bringing the right tools goes a long way in making it more manageable.
Stop crying for rebalancing just because you don't use the tools handed to you.
1.: Use either Bill, dynamite or Gin to soften the undead up, then do a massive bravado chain. You can easily take out an entire map worth of enemies that way.
2.: Any kill triggers bravado. That "soften up" move can also trigger it if you manage to get one of the low healt undead in it. Don't have one in it? Make one by shooting one of them or by swapping in one with flynn.
3.: Gin can easily reach 9 damage with a rifle or 8 with a handgun by this point (in bravado) that is enough to one shot more than half of the enemies there.
4.: Don't waste AP by bravadoing from the same spot. If you are using a 2 AP shot you can also move before shooting every time.
I did this mission with two turns to spare for the achievement with Gin, Flynn, Laughing Deer and Clalish (though Old man Bill at less than full HP would probably be even better).
You can watch it here if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-_QReuXG6A
I guess you didn't watch the video. You do not have to spend a turn setting up a bravado sweep. That just exposes you to more return fire and runs up the clock. Effective use of skills and dynamite, as shown in the video, can let you bravado sweep an entire group the turn you encounter them.
