Agreed, they can be overcome but - fudge on a biscuit - they are unfun to deal with.
The round timer on nightmare makes it tricky most times, but I cleared the mission with bravado off the last kill letting me finish it. I thought taking them down first was the play, but it turns out if you bravado down the warriors, dealing with the blackhearts one at a time is the way to go.

They are passive most times and only engage when you are close. Another trick is to laughing dear to kill them. Keep in mind you can buy bandages to heal and remove cripple effects
