Short of the american far west fantasy setting, I'm not sure they appeal to the same demographics so you'll probably have limited feedback with experience in both.
And as with every other similar question, you'll generally have a biased response based on which of the games' subforum you ask since people more likely to participate in the forums here are those that have some appreciation of HW2.
I generally prefer turn-based strategy but I also love real-time tactics (I love Desperados 3 for example) ; in the end I had a better time overall with Hard West, whether it's the story, the gameplay or the voice acting. I guess you could get both, they are quite different besides the setting.
