The game is not originally from Steam and was just slapped onto the Steam Store. Steam already have it audited so there's no problem but you wanted Microsoft's or Steam's verification for it and that's just it while the games like the ones I listed above as an example doesn't have their external launcher at all and have to rely on Steam's details for it.

This is the limitation of Windows OS, you know that yourself and you wanted a full guarantee when there's still security vulnerabilities wherever you go. Don't forget about Microsoft's CrowdStrike incident. It's never perfect with or without Microsoft or Valve's signature. Steam also had issues in the past where they accidentally deleted user files unintentionally.

They may have signature as guarantees but in the end you accepted the privacy policy and terms of service nullifying any liabilities they may have caused and won't reimburse you for anything.

Also this game does require admin privs not just to install, but every time you boot up the game as well.

Game cause freeze for whole PC

Sometimes my PC just straight up freezes while playing Strinova. This happens only in this game, I play variety of other titles using various launchers. I have not seen such behavior for years.

I played for 12+ hours and had it happen 3 times. Not much, some would say, but its annoying as heck. I would be not so annoyed if it was just a crash to desktop or an error boot. Here we have a hard freeze of a whole system, cant do anything other than turning PC off. Alt-tab, Alt-esc, win-tab, and even win-shift-ctrl-B to reset video drivers did not help. Second monitor froze as well (I have clock there, it froze too)

First time it was in main menu just browsing the store, second time happened during matchmaking and third time was at the end of a match (I got the xp and stuff for playing it even tho we had 30+ seconds left of that match when I froze). I cant see any correlation between 3 freezes. Windows event viewer has nothing for all 3, only notes that PC was shut down unexpectedly (by me pressing the button).

I have not seen such thing since windows XP era, come on.
Windows 11, nvidia, latest drivers.

Try to off ur gamepad from Usb-port. Some games idk why do that hard crash bcoz gamepads. Or check Temperature.

Try downloading one outside Steam to see if there's any changes. They're not the same file structure. It won't solve anything but that's just my suggestion but if it did that'd be a miracle.

I know that ♥♥♥♥ happens and all, the thing is I investigated it all already.

As for my PC, I have no USB shenanigans, nothing loose connecting-disconnecting, no controllers connected when I play Strinova, and there is no overheating, especially not in this game, its very light in comparison to other titles I play.

The whole point of this post is mostly for people like me, who tried to find something about game specifically freezing whole PC. And then sharing their experience and maybe we will find the solution for it together (unless devs patch something up)

Yeah, he doesn't trust them with UAC (admin privileges). It's in the title of the thread. It's one thing to run a game from a low reputation dev, it's another thing entirely to give such a game admin privileges. Sorry but I'm not seeing the contradiction.

What I wrote to you helped me. I just changed the thermal paste on the video card and turned off the gamepad.

Kernel thingy. Reinstall it on non-OS drive. Usually works.

@emøviølence hm... in my case it was instant freeze, could not move mouse or do anything at all. Glad you have found a fix for your case but I think I have something different happening, sadly.

my system drive is separate ssd. Steam and game itself installed on different drive altogether, but good idea anyway.

He had 1,260 games and you act like he had a valid reason to avoid the game when huge portion of his game library does the same.

This aren't admin privileges like kernel level malicious software but rather just extra permission this person knows nothing about out of ignorance and treat it as malice.
