Like I feel the game doesn’t get nearly enough credit to how nice it is in this regard, really makes the fights feel so much more lively than if everyone was just mute.
Overwatch had characters chatting since 2016 regarding their lore similar to Strinova.
Strinova doesnt characters reacting to being healed, shot, buffed, or entering specific areas of the map, in Apex Legends.
What it does need to do right now is implement other dorm characters, majority of the players likes anime and vtubers, they will be okay even with Japanese voice overs with subtitles. The english VO can wait.
Though the game could use a bit more variety in voice lines, I don't think that should be the priority. It is no longer as impressive as it once was. Maybe save it for the story bits.
I did play some Counter Strike inspired games though some years ago and none had as much chatter as this one.
Hell no, literally most of the reason I love it is because I can actually understand what they are saying with En VO, super hard disagree.
Weird. Pretty much any shooter that came after Overwtach was trying to add more just because Overwatch was doing it.
We already see the Dormitory characters in the current Lunar New Year event, they are already in your game client.
We are just being forced to wait for the English VO. When the Japanese VO and Chinese VO are already available since last year. There are even subtitles that you can read in English.
Some voice actors are even apparently popular, from what have people been sayin' in the in-game chat, namely Bai Mo and Nobunaga from Final Fantasy or some other videogames, possibly anime?
Not that I would know..
I do like Michele's voice acting the most. It really feels passionate and the voice actor must be talented to pull it off by my opinion.
There are other agents to be mentioned, but Michele's does stand out the most to me.
A side note, I do use Japanese voice acting.
In the exact opposite regard, Ming's rather constant screaming has more or less entirely discouraged me from ever picking her up.. And given the recoil of her Rebelflame.. It wasn't a bad call, haha.
The reason why this isn't talked about is because the focus is on the main game, so on the ranks, balancement, matchmaking.. Such stuff, thus voice acting gets overlooked and rarely mentioned, if it ever gets mentioned.
Naturally, some of us do bring it up, but then there's a differencing between the used languages of voice acting and players being unable to relate to each other as a result, making the topic quitsa dead end until somebody who uses the same language joins-in the conversation.
It's a bit too selfish if you're asking a lot of things from a possibly smaller development team (Still waiting for the full history article on them) than the big triple a studios we known very well. Sure it'll make things more immersive but that'll take some time before that stuff can be added so who knows if they will do it or not.
Also no.. I do sometimes like hearing the original dub of anime in Japanese but that's only due the fact that they were animated and made after the lines are done being read and finished by the actors. While having some underpaid translators trying to make sense of what's going on the screen when adding the subtitles and editing it with the footage.
This.. is not one of them. Because I do not like it when characters are spouting something and I don't understand what they said... because the game uses audio ques a lot and if you don't understand any of them... gotta start blastin that mic to communicate more often.
I like anime yes. Vtubers? Not so much because the only ones I watch... are the ones that make good points or valid criticisms about certain things in life and commentary about it.
Yes I hate waiting too. But there aren't going to be subtitles for everything for this game. I can read it sure but you gotta also understand what if people who like the English VO when they started?
Since some characters make you think VERY differently from them when you hear them in a different voice.
Seriously Audrey in English is passive aggressive British and in Japanese she's cheery and jolly girl with a machine gun which is a total tone whiplash for me.
Meanwhile Bai Mo's Japanese voice actor sounds oddly familiar to me... but i can't put my finger on who it reminds me of.
You should try some other genres or aesthetics of games sometimes. But hey it's your choice so it's up to you to decide if your want to broaden your perspective on things some things appeal to others some do not.
I remembered my first time playing cs:go I spent almost an hour on the tutorial and realize it didn't do jack when I was thrown into wolves den.
Then I uninstalled it and went back to playing TF2 due to it taking large chunk of my macbook's storage space at the time.
Yeah... my first experience of the multiplayer tactical shooter was not a good one.
At least I got a kill with the AWP then bought the AWP sniper rifle for TF2 because it was around $12.39 at the time.
I'm guessing English isn't your main language but hey we all make mistakes because to succeed in things you must fail a lot at it first. (if i'm wrong your main language please pardon me for assuming.)
Details help make a game feel more immersive sometimes. It's how some games succeed in world building experiences.
Some voices sound better than others. Some like em some do not. It's all a matter of preference on who you like and think sound great.
However as you typed on this part of your comment. It does indeed get overlooked a lot. Which is true since some players might not care about it and think it's serviceable at best and just want to make a name for themselves in ranked or just want to have fun.
But acknowledging the efforts of the people making it can help them improve further in the future.
And who knows? One day they might get bigger roles in the future and we'll discover their history on a website that shows who they act and worked on before.
I know that the Chinese and Japanese voice actors have some history but I don't exactly go a game specifically for them. (It's more like a huh neat. And if they're overused then it becomes a Bethesda rpg voice actor reuse.)
I'm still trying to find out who the English VA's are and whether or not if they have some history or just getting started.
This all will eventually become a fond memory one day but i'll just be glad that I've been there to experience it with people who experienced it too.
...Don't type at till 2AM it's not good for mental health.
I have rather unique tastes.
What you said about Counter Strike more or less happened to me when I tried TF2.
I just didn’t gel with that game so I uninstalled it briefly.
Same thing with Deadlock recently, although that was x3 times more confusing than TF2. I just want to shoot at things my man.
I'd like to use this chance to ask, what in particular has made you draw the questions about my main language, so I could use it to the future and learn from it if possible..?
Yuppa, I do very much agree with that.
Such details, namely voice acting, does make the game all the more immersive.
I do also agree with the preferences when it comes to the voice acting is subjective.
Since voice acting isn't the main theme or focus of the game, it makes sense for it to get overlooked.
Tha' said, I'm not all that sure of how could acknowledging some of the voice acting and the voice actors' and actresses' efforts lead towards any sort of improvement, as it needs more than that.. And even then, whether there will be some improvement is another question of its own.
