Because online on weekends still more than before, before it was like 8500-9300, right now it's about 10000-11200 (and it's didin't count people that didin't play from steam)
I do love it and if I had spare cash I'd 100% spend it on this just to support the devs.
Sure, it could be seen as worrysome if you queue during certain time periods when people aren't playing the game, as you will be matched with and against AI to fill the lobbies rather than having you wait Xth of minutes or hours for a single match.
It's probably due to the lack of players that the matchmaking is really.. Eh, too close to the EOMM that Overwatch uses.
There might be SBMM, but with the lack of players.. It will quickly change to not working properly, and that's the current situation, varying from rank(s) to rank(s).
- The only way to change it would be to somehow make people play the game or get into it, but I can't see it happening when the price tags for currencies are so high and are otherwise really hard to come by for the players who don't wish to spend money in this videogame.
It's not like the currencies are all that valuable regarding the gameplay, as it's just about skins, unless we'a talking about the beginners' issue suddenly having to grind or spend X tenths of hours just to unlock all of the agents.
That itself is pretty off putting in my eyes, easily distracting or convincing players that it's not gonna be worth it, and they've got the point in a way.
- Where's the fun against playing against some agents X times in a row who'd fit your gameplay preferences, but you have spend hours of playtime to unlock them while getting more or less consecutively matched against players playing with that agent, right?
I can see how that can be enough for people to call it a day before even gettin' into the game, and that all is despite the Twitch drops as not everyone is into that stuff and willing to create an account just to get those bonuses that wouldn't even had to be there if the game wasn't this grind-heavy for beginners, especially the global version of the game that somehow and for some reason drew the short end of the stick by the looks of it.
It gets even worse upon acknowledging and realizing that the game suffers from the instalocking problem just like Valorant, Overwatch, and other competitive videogames.
- A scenario when the beginner wants to try out some agent, but can't because they were too slow to lock-in in time, only to watch that the prefered replacements are already locked by the other players aswell, sure isn't pleasant to experience.. And the player is literally forced to pick the one remaining agent due to the lack of variety caused by the lock put on the agents.
I can’t see myself trying to master every single one of them unless you are like, aiming for esports or something.
As long as I can play support, be it in the form of intel gathering, team buff support, or enviromental support, I'm happy.
That includes Celestia, Fragrans, Lawine, Kanami, Meredith, Michele, Yugiri.. For the time being.
I am well aware of best performing with Celestia and Michele, but fun is the most important to me.
I like playing double initiators (Kanami x Lawinne), double controllers (Meredith x Reiichi, Yvette x Yugiri), or double supports (Celestia x Fragrans, Celestia x Kokona).
Generally speaking, depends on the team composition.
My main focus is on reading the game, which includes reading the moves of my team and enemies alike, trying to become unpredictable, or to prevent the drop in performances of mine and of the team's aswell.
Some agent mastery or mastering has never crossed my mind, ever. And since the game's got the instalocking issue, there's no room to dedicate it to the one or few agents to master.
Kanami, Fuchsia, and Ming are being instalocked in nearly every match afterall.
- I do typically prelock, then adjust to the team's composition.
Because Strinova is very similar to Valorant and Counter-Strike regarding the area control, there's really not that much for me to learn. I do already know most of it, so all that's left to do is to polish it a bit to lead it to the perfection..
Perhaps, it's those years spent in various team based shooters that make the game appear really easy to me, kinda allowing me to play more than just a few agents.
I'm very picky about my role in the team though. That I already adapted to, and can't see myself changing from the support's mindset to the entry fragger's, for example.
EDIT: Except my very first match of the session; that one does take some extra seconds to load. Anything after that one though, I seemingly always load first.
Plus I used to play Paladins so the rare times it does happen I know how to deal with it.
Honestly if someone gets frustrated so much that they quit over it then it's kinda on them. lol
It'll survive but not for another (i'm guessing) 2-6 years because as you know there are only 3 modes (2 are same variant of deathmatch) and with a reworked demolition in the works... that's still 3 modes.
Even though I heavily dislike csgo. I can't deny that there are people willing to put countless hours in a game where the main attraction mode is mostly demolition.
The original folks who made this game either left, removed, or still working on it despite being with a new team.
The future is very uncertain because I like this game as it has a different take on the multiplayer tactical shooter while having some elements mixed in from other games.
As for now we can only speculate and hope something good happens.
But life has taught me to be prepared for disappointment so take everything you've just read with a literal grain of salt if this aged badly in the future.
The game is fun at the moment, but some things are annoying about it:
- the 5 kill "DUN DUN DUUUN" sound effect for example
- the one single server in Europe, where most people have played cs1.6
- this game was so hidden from cs2 players that I had to find it through a vtuber on twitch
- the intro chime song sounds ... very flat? yes I know it's not important, but it's the first thing you hear when starting the game
One thing which would make things infinitely more cool and make the game more replayable is if you could change primary weapons as well, not just secondary, then also do that for in the middle of the match.
Snipers, something needs to be done to them, they are completely useless in this game unless you are in the "long" area of each map, or you can hit the side of an a4 paper that's running at you at mach speed, which is about to start shooting at you.
Marketing deffo needs to work better, and actually target players that like this type of gameplay.
The gacha part I really don't care about, it's extremely nice to have, because otherwise it would just be another cs game, but I'm mainly here for the fun gameplay, which is much better than on "valorant", which was supposed to be cs replacement (but it's got that riot jank).
As for why not go for cs2?
I've played that game for over 20 years, there's not been much changes to the core gameplay, unless I play on modded community servers, which are too few for my liking.
This game at least offers fun abilities and nice modes to test characters (the team deathmatch, or demolition, or the 3v3v3v3 mode).
