Ranked VS Challenge
Hi all, I want to collect some feedback on ranked and challenge mode.

Specifically, what are the main reasons why you play challenge as opposed to playing ranked?

And, if you mostly play ranked, what part of it do you like the most?

I played some ranked overwatch 1 back in the days, and I always felt like I played rather well with teams that talked, and poorly with teams that didn't talk. Which usually meant that the lower I dropped, the less people talked, and the more I dropped. So it was an endless cycle of being paired with worse players which I couldn't synergy with leading to worse plays.

In some ways I'd almost say that voice chat should be forced in ranked, but at the same time nobody can force anyone to actually speak.
only play challenge mode because me skill issue
challenge offer more bots, easy kill

:p

Ranked game without Superstring Agents ban could end up the game very one-sided, We couldn't push a team with Audrey and Kokona as they have the whole hallway locked down. Even with smokes, they are covered with interceptor. Forcing us to either rotate or play passively.
me quit this game
i miss old Team Deathmatch :(

Ranked is still a horrible laggy mess for me. The longer the match is going, the more lagspikes. 9 wins is almost unplayable towards the end, with stringification being interupted, jumps and wallsticks not registrating or lagging out. Overall movement is extremely impaired.

The matchmaking in ranked has been better compared to season 1, even on the lowest of ranks. However you still get no rewards for being MVP nor for draws. My last Draw MVP gave me 7 points, at that point i might as well not put the effort in to win.

I even noticed some weird screen glitches, i was sure i saw a player card pop up at some point on the bottom left where the chat is. Not sure if these are spectators lagging the ranked games out or some other effects. But its not good.

I dont get how Challenge is buttery smooth with no issues or lag what so ever. While ranked is an ''experience''.
If it stays like this, i will also have to skip out on Season 2 ranked.

I played 4-5 games on challenge and noticed rubber-banding server behavior as if it lost packages and then repositioned me back where I was earlier. So I think Challenge also has lag issues.

Could also depend on who I play with. Maybe some people with poor connections were tempted to try this next season.

Sorry to hear that, for me its only in Ranked. And its exactly the same as 1th season, where i also could not play.
Challenge works for me, no lagspikes or other hickups.
Regardless in both i have 30 ping according to the game, so thats not the issue.

I play Challenge, and less often Ranked. I want to say that both systems are pretty bad. Why aren't personal match results taken into account when calculating ratings? Is it just the time of the match that counts? Are you serious?
Sorry if it sounds rude, but losing with a score of 15/1 and 1/15 are not the same thing. But the reward is the same for everyone! The other day I had a losing streak of 8 games, and I had MVP in all of them. 120 points in 10 matches... I even wanted to quit the game...
stop giving me unranked people actually bots

I play a mix of the two, i play challenge either as a warm up or if im not feeling ranked and ill play ranked most of my play time
should make an requirement to find a group to play demo in challenge and ranked. Playing solo queue is a good way to decrease your sanity. Really cant learn if im playing against someone thats already far steps above me and predicting what i'll do.

My aim is decent enough, but the problem is the stress factor if i see the players im playing against that seems to be far above my skill level (like constantly going into paper mode, but when i do the same i just get beamed or headshoted by a sniper some how?) i'll start stressing out makes my aim not accurate then it should be.

I do try to get the feel of the Degale and the Snipers but the aim tracking method but that poorly translates to a ranked game and the Demo challenge mode.

Makes me feel like im at a disadvantage for the rest of the game and not providing enough to the team which becomes an toxic anti social experience. I was even in a game where the Shark girl was getting most of the kills in ranked everyone else (including me) in the team wasnt even doing anything or much at all.

Could just be a "me problem", or how i gotten PTSD from (if you want to be Schizo about it, but thats off topic debate) EOMM COD MW 2019 to COD B06 or Overwatch 2, but at this point, if the matchmaking doesnt appeal to low skill or average skill players to climb up ranks and sense improvements but favors High skill players, Smurfs, or Cheaters for this matter then you'll have a dead game soon because you'll demoralize low rank players.

The Overwatch payload mode in Challenge mode is just unappealing same with team death match due to braindead bots.

It happened to Apex legends and especially Titianfall 2, i was getting a lot of kills in titianfall 2 due to the game getting a resurgence of players, but i think the game identified me as a "sweat" due to how i play the game i guess? Could be why i was playing against new players now since that game is a ghost town only Cheaters and Sweats exists so its pretty difficult for me to get Kills. COD is only still "alive" due to two boxing method/Streamers exploiting EOMM/SBMM or Hidden MMR. Which i suspect this game has...

If im dying more than im getting kills, then there's no gameplay and progression here. If most modern pvp shooters is going to continue being like this where Smurfs, Cheaters, and Poor matchmaking exists then so be it honestly. I wont "complain" just sending my honest constructive (hopefully not unhinged) criticism to developers.

The main incentive for me to play this game somehow is due your game is appealing and eye catching(character design wise at least) compared to the terrible demoralizing designs in Valorant, R6 Siege, Counter Strike Go(CS2), the COD games after BO4 (like COD BO6 for example), and Apex legends.

Thats my opinion on both modes. You're free to disagree with anything i say here. But at the end of the day, this is my opinion about what i honestly feel about Strinova and honestly most Modern PVP shooters these days.

Reducing the number of teams in Challenge-Team Deathmatch has made this mode boring, era of campers now.
Honestly, finding a stress-relief game isn’t easy, and the old Team Deathmatch mode was perfect for that—lots of different teams randomly fighting in an open space, no need to worry about dying, no need to care about scores. Every character could play a role without any pressure (even if some were ridiculously strong).

Cutting down the number of teams has made range the defining factor on most maps (just imagine Audrey and snipers lurking in every corner). Ranked mode is great and all, but sometimes I just want to blow off steam, not raise my blood pressure.

I’m so, so disappointed with this update. It would’ve been better to keep both the 4-team and 6-team Team Deathmatch modes.

Let me say it again—so disappointed.

Yeah, there was no need to change TDM. We already have Demo for the more tactical side of the game.

TMD's whole appeal was it's ultra chaotic almost arcade like pace

I mostly play Challenge because:

1. The ranked environment is significantly more toxic. Teammates are often abusive towards each other which not only destroys any fun that might be had, but also decreases everyone's overall performance.

2. Ranked matches are longer meaning fewer can be played in the same amount of time.

3. Ranked matches only feature demolition, which I find to be the least enjoyable gamemode (with Escort being the most enjoyable.)

4. Low incentive to play ranked. I like not feeling like I'm missing out on anything too big if I can't get to a certain rank, but I also don't feel motivated by the rewards as they have been so far.
