What seems to be off about it? Don't forget the game has 6 mouse sensitivity.
These were my settings and it's close to the default just tweaked by 0.10 values more or less:
EDIT: The default value is 5 as shown below.
EDIT: It's actually 1.00 as shown below.
You played Left 4 Dead 2 and PAYDAY 2 upon viewing your Steam Library but since those are PvE games and not PvP, they have less recoil. I can't speak for ARK: Survival Evolved for comparison.
Since we couldn't play the game as of the moment, we're going to use videos as reference:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHb6OW9Y8K4 (This is someone else's video as an example NOT mine.)
My mouse sensitivity plays exactly close to this content creator shown in this video with small value differences because each scope has their own kind of "pixelated dot" especially when equipping skins changes it hence I adjusted it by 0.X2 value for 1.25x and 2.5x magnification for ADS.
DEFAULT MOUSE SENSITIVITY VALUE:
(Documented by Nipidro)
The only time I switched over to ADS was for sniping, long distance engagements, especially when I knew that all I had to do was to land that one headshot.
While I agree about the recoil being high, the shoulder aim have made things really easy for my Lawine-Michele gameplay, sometimes Kanami, Celestia, and Fuchsia.
Michele's was the easiest, yet not the most reliable, the easiest ADS;
Lawine's was easy, the most reliable;
Kanami's is self-explanatory;
Celestia's was moderate, more or less reliable and somewhat difficult at the same time. The good balance, you could say;
Fuchsia's was the most difficult, but still fairly reliable due to the rounds hitting like a truck, as three rounds was usually all I needed.
