Not being able to use certain characters on certain maps

...I get that it makes sense from a lore perspective, like certain factions aren't going to be the ones bombing their own base. I know this was something people joked about with Overwatch like "here comes Zenyatta to genocide his own robot race with the EMP bomb" but actually forcing it to be a real thing in the game kinda sucks.

Its also especially bad if you don't have a lot of characters and you're forced to use someone you're bad with. On the one hand I like it does force you to try everyone, but I'm straight up awful with super accurate weapons like sniper rifles but sometimes its literally the only thing I'm allowed to pick if the rest of the team has locked in their characters first.

You downloaded an entire game just for you to play one character to main? that's not how it works and it will never be. If you wanted that kind of game mechanic you would be playing a game with a character creator but no such thing exist in the market.

You downloaded an entire game just for you to play one character to main? that's not how it works and it will never be. If you wanted that kind of game mechanic you would be playing a game with a character creator but no such thing exist in the market.

Buddy the game hasn't even been out for 3 days, you make it sound like I should touch everyone for 5 seconds and know how they work exactly. Trying someone for a couple matches is a bad idea to you?

There's a TRAINING MODE for you to test and try and you pretend like you have to play 100 matches for a single character to be learned?

It's mostly for balancing purposes. Some abilities would be too OP to use on attack, others too OP to use on defense.

Does that mean that all Scissors characters are designed to be attackers only, and suchlike? That's an interesting way of doing character balance

What Keko meant was for Escort and Demolition MODES of ATTACKING/DEFENSE side of balance.

You should be playing Team Arena and Team Death Match for now until you finally have enough funds to try out the rest of the characters.

Like despite having a shield Audrey can't facetank nearly as well as I thought and I only learned that through actual gameplay. Plus there's other things you don't learn in training mode, like if someone sneaks up behind you there's not a lot you can do about it.

Also I'm not even sure training dummies are affected by skills properly. Meredith's ult is supposed to suck enemies in according to the description, but the training dummies are either rooted in place or continue pacing around their preset paths. I'm not sure if this is due to their having pre-programmed positions that can't be changed or if I'm misunderstanding how haboob is supposed to work, but its not something I can exactly try out in a real match until I have her.

Nope. There's a mode selector.

Click on CHALLENGE button next side of RANKED then you can uncheck/check what you want.

Look, you can keep making excuses on end but that's how the game works NOT only on this game but everywhere that utilizes CLASS/ROLE system. What you clearly wanted is a game that let's you play specific character and this is NOT that game. Its intentionally done that way for you to be deprived of certain characters and use other characters and even encouraged to buy skins and expand collection.

I already told you the solutions you can do if you don't ever wanna pay or spend time learning. There's custom matches for you to ADD AI BOTS into the game to replicate those scenarios you speak off.

ALSO, FYI. Majority of the match you are in are fighting against bots so CUSTOM MATCH wouldn't make any difference.

Why are you assuming I only use one character? I've used just about everyone available to me at least once. I'm complaining that there's some characters I'm really bad with and I end up being stuck using them because they're literally the only characters left selectable. You can't have multiples of the same character and there's only a few in the free roster, especially after half of them get cut out due to the game mode/map.

Like, as funny as it is to hear Nobunaga shout DOMAIN EXPANSION constantly I'm just straight up trash with him. Its gotten to the point where I ignore his charged shot mechanic since I always miss. I right click to zoom and spam shots, since that gets me better results, my performance went way up once I started doing that. But, you know, it kind of removes the point of the character and he's probably better suited to someone else.

Maddelena is the absolute character I'm the absolute worst with. I think the game agrees since I've crashed twice and only while using her, god knows why. The best I can do is just fire her skill shot at the payload or whatever. I can't aim with her to save my life but I can at least get some area denial from it?

You don't get snipers at the start. I had to go out of my way to GET ONE just so I can stop sucking at that TDM map with the stupid ass river. The spammable single shot rifle users like Nobunaga and Specs girl aren't snipers and should not be used like one. Press Shift and spam away.

If you suck at a character, then learn how to use it. Most characters play roughly the same anyway, that is... to "stay out of sight. Press Q before combat. Aim better than the opponent"

Oh, I want to say that I've changed my mind on this topic and I don't care anymore. Once I got more hours into it I just got used to it. I'd delete the thread if I could but I can't so, eh.
