I wanted a competitive anime game for a long ass time. I hope it doesn't become Eternal Return where only Korea plays it.

Should be ok, it's Tencent. Grenade problem on global aside, the game feels very polished. Also among big CCs Tuonto (genshin CC) plays it on CN, and probably will on global as well.

It's definitely not going to be an E-sport - so I don't even understand what you mean by competitive.

All Anime Shooters wer Pay2Win at some Point even Back in the S4 League Days.
They will Not Just sell Skins and dont ad some Items that Push your DMG or even better Weapons...

You get some default characters, but you'll need to grind currencies to unlock new characters. The game usually have a lot of events that will give you gacha pulls and currencies to buy skins/chars though.

hate to tell you but these anime games fail hard in the west. i've tried dozens and dozens of them and they all end in the same way

They first have to actualy release it, the game has been out for a year now and still not released in the west.
But i dont see a reason why people wont play it, overwatch and valorant are popular. Prehaps not as much as Apex but this style of game does have quite the playerbase, it just wont be as big in the esports scene. Since a lot of professional fps players tend to steer away from anything thats not as realistic as posible in artstyle.
I can see the game having potential for streamers though.
