This vs BFBBmix
like if we're being honest, BFBBmix CLEARS this game. and BFBBmix is a fan project.

No way Jose. I played both Cosmic Shake and BFBBmix (On real hardware because I'm cool like that) and Cosmic Shake is way more polished and creative than a fanmade mod. Don't get me wrong BFBBmix is great for what it is but it can't compete with a full release with an entire team behind it. BFBBmix feels like an early Mario 64 hack, which makes sense as the modding tools are pretty new and have limited functionality. Some levels are too wide and ugly to look at. The low points in BFBBmix are much more annoying than the lows in Cosmic Shake. It reuses assets from the original game, all the levels are "remixed" versions of the originals. These things make sense as it's an amateur project and the first of it's kind. Regardless I still liked BFBBmix. It's homemade appeal gives it a sense of charm and I love playing Mario 64 mods with a similar feel.

It's comparing Apples to Oranges, they are 2 separate games with vastly different goals in mind. One is an official product and the other is a free mod (when you dump your physical copy blah blah). I'd rather compare it to games like Creature From The Krusty Krab. Which I strongly prefer Cosmic Shake over.

in my opinion cosmic shake dumbs itself down (and its completion objectives) to have more broad appeal. the only time it stops doing that is the 2nd half. in comparison, BFBBmix has barriers to finishing the game other than just doing the levels. there's a lot of jank but that's kind of what you get with the mod. it is for the most part consistent in its engagement and difficulty. me personally i would rather have had small but notable moments of jank/frustration than a boring bloated experience that gets good halfway then ends in a dud of a final boss battle (and most of the completion marks/side objectives are basically pointless in cosmic shake)
