So it's not OK to ask for more graphics settings??
I don't think performance is bad
its always post launch... great. this is what i get for pre ordering i guess.
Its funny how such important and basic thing is post-launch feature.
That said, BFBB Rehydrated was actually really easy to run, and it’s not like that was 60FPS capped like a lot of Japanese ports using the engine (even if those usually run fine 90% of the time). I didn’t have any complaints with how it ran, but here’s hoping this new game isn’t using UE’s DX12 renderer, because chances are that will have shader compilation stutter. That will probably be the biggest problem. I do think the chromatic aberration and vignette was done to an extremely annoying extent in that game though.
There’s a ton of issues with Unreal Engine (whether that’s how Epic decided to handle controller support, mod support (including how they make it difficult in their licensing agreements to distribute editor tools), or the camera FOV by default) including the shader compilation stutter that just end up holding a majority of games using the engine back on PC. Honestly the engine is a red warning flag for me nowadays.
Steam forum and Unreal Slackers users that don’t give a single ♥♥♥♥ about UX (or having something that works without mods or workarounds) will defend it anyways.
So I guess if you want Hor+ FOV (so it looks proper on ultrawide without zooming in), no depth of field, to lower the screen percentage, or to tweak any settings (Which worked in BFBB Rehydrated), take a hike.
Gonna see if packing my changes up into a .PAK file would fix the issue. Worst case, I may have to use Cheat Engine and Universal Unreal Unlocker to manually find the values I want to modify.
Also, forced mouse acceleration, yay! BFBB Rehydrated had mouse input that felt good.
There's a special place in hell for any Unreal Engine game that does this.
please post an update if you can get that to work, im super interested in optimizing the game myself!
If anything, potential future mods that allow for changing graphics settings will be impossible. You'll also be stuck on a resolution, framerate and Vsync setting as well as the PS4 controller as the input method. And of course, you won't be able to play it on different devices like the Steam Deck. I suppose at this point you've made up your mind but still, just saying
I'm a bit disappointed you can't disable Depth of Field but I'm guessing someone will create a mod that does or figure out how to make config file settings apply
