How Do You Complete the Timed Snail Race?

Someone told me to just mash the X button but Spongebob is still too slow. I don't know how people are getting through this race exactly. I done this race like 10 times now. I try not to mash the X button when going downhill since that makes Spongebob faster, but other than that, I still can't get the last Flame Hoop... I hope they could like, update it and like another 10 seconds maybe? Idk.

It is doable, but you really need to keep mashing the X button and yes, even when going downhill. Alternatively, I find that sometimes for button mashing sections, using keyboard works better than controller. The game fluently switches between both, so using k/m for one section is not too big an issue in my personal opinion at least.

Yeah I figured this out on my own. It was so much easier using a keyboard and mouse.
