Can't play with my Epic Friend

I am unable to play with my Friend who has the game on his Epic Games account.
I created an Epic Games account for the sole purpose of playing with him and linked my accounts just fine.

In the Main Menu, clicking the Button "F Link Epic account" at the top left of the screen is not doing anything. No Error Code.
Conversely, when he is trying to join my Session, he gets the error code: eos_invaliduser

Also: I have Epic Games Launcher, Steam, and the Game open, but the Epic Overlay (SHIFT-F3) is not working either.

Pls help, as I enjoyed the tutorial :(

Ola, have you and your friend both linked your EGS and steam accounts in-game? That's the only way to have the servers talk with each other otherwise it'll usually be automatched separately. EGS with EGS and steam with steam.

Linking ingame does not work, as the Button has no function.

OK, after unlinking my Account pressing the Button worked.
Now i have an Overlay

Then have you linked outside? Both of you?

Yes i linked through the Apps and Accounts page in Epic.

I now: removed the steamaccount. lauched remnant 2. then pressed F. there i linked the Epic Account. I have Overlay. ...... shame it took so long for me to figure this out, my friend's now offline :(
