Incurable Root Rot Bug

I discovered an interesting edge case that occurred during the Chimney event:

One of those exploding enemies exploded next to me while I was dodge-rolling down a slope through its rot-gas-cloud, and I noticed that something was wrong because the rot gauge was appearing and disappearing rapidly, like, it was flickering.

When I was finally through the cloud, the gauge had disappeared, but my character started their coughing (as if they had root rot) but they weren't exhibiting the characteristic root tendrils that would normally stick out of their model when they have the debuff/condition, so I promptly applied oilskin balm to cure the root rot.

It had no effect on the character's coughing despite consuming the item, and a second application of the balm did nothing. Eventually I just got overwhelmed and failed that attempt due to the incurable sickness.
