The final boss fight is way to hard
My friend and I put damn near 30+ attempts at the final boss fight before we gave up and he uninstalled due to pure frustration. We only made it to the 2nd phase 2 times in which we got absolutely destroyed. We were having such a blast and talked about purchasing the dlc/doing another run through but not being able to get past this was a turn off for both of us ultimately laying the game to rest.

What difficulty and what were your builds?

For the final fight, I highly recommend turning the music volume down, it's epic but it makes the sound queues hard to hear. The final boss is all sound queues. You will hear a "Shink" sound before he initiates an attack. One you recognize the sound and get your timing it is a lot easier. The only other thing I can recommend is perhaps enigma for dealing with the orbs.

Best of luck Traveler!

Bruh. There is no death penalty in Remnant literally just keep trying and eventually you will get it. me and my buddy played the whole game in coop and we died a ton of times. What we learned is the last boss is very beatable you just have to pay attention to cues. First stage is easy because you can learn his moveset. 2nd stage moves much faster, but honestly once you learn to listen to audio cues instead of watching him you can dodge his attacks without even looking at him.

Not saying it isn't a hard boss,w e struggled mightily, but spend a few fights learning the moves instead of trying to beat him and you will see it's actually not nearly as intimidating as it looks.

I would recommend raise Invader for it's Archetype Trait to get more dodge i-frame.
Mist step (Ring of Omen + one of "Omen" amulet) could work.

The rest is observe the boss animation and dodge into it's wave attack like hitting a moving note in piano/music games.

Even myself who experienced at dodging through big swing attacks from other games still took me 15 tries to beat the final boss for first time in Veteran difficulty.

Not here to game shame anyone but look, i'm 54 with bad hands and eyes lol i got through it the first try because i watched a great vid and looked at the q's yea its a tough fight but if your having problems use the medic and challenger that should keep you and ur buddy alive well into the second half and make sure your weapons are maxed out

Annihilation is a huge difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game yeah. I also think it's the only poorly designed fight in an otherwise stellar game. I was stuck there for quite a while in my first playthrough.

The Phase 2 mechanic of swapping arenas and forms is the most distracting, disorienting thing I've ever seen in a game. It's very cinematic but incredibly jarring. The fight would be hard enough without it but noooo the developers though it would be a great idea to incorporate sensory overload too.

*cough* Anyway......

The way I beat this fight on Apocalypse at max level was by stacking shields and using dots+turret to DPS the boss while dodging. Shielded Heart + Medic shield for a total of 300% effective HP should put you out of OHKO range for all of the boss's attacks except for the orbs.

You can increase your EHP further by boosting your base HP via traits and using relic fragments for HP and shield effectiveness. Combine that with lowering your skill cooldowns as much as possible(Legacy protocol + rings of your choice) and you can reduce the cooldown of the medic's shield to almost nothing. Then you're free to just shield spam your way to victory. Your main class can be pretty much whatever. I like engineer since the turret can DPS the boss while you're dodging its attacks.

The only other requirement to make this build work is some source of passive healing so you can top yourself off while you're shielded since Shielded Heart doesn't actually heal you. I found Regrowth + Syphoner + Soul Link (ring) to be enough (assuming you're running engineer). You could probably swap "Soul Link" for "Generating Band" if you're not using the turret as that ring provides pretty strong HP regen while shielded.

It was already mentioned once but its worth repeating: enigma is THE way to kill the orbs on that fight. It's a very easy, nearly foolproof way to deal with the boss's most damaging attack.

I don't think I ever beat that boss in coop though. The last thing that boss needs is more HP to chew through.

As someone who initially struggled just as much against the final boss, and then went on to beat it several times, both solo and co-op, in all difficulty levels, I can tell you this: its not nearly as difficult as it might seem the first time around.

Took me over 30 attempts of apocalypse. You can do it. Turn your music off and go die some more until you don't.

I would not say it's the difficulty so much as that everything about it is very different to most conventional encounters, and certainly different than what you've faced so far in the game, so it is very jarring and has a learning curve.
