don't know the exact number of secrets in RFtA but it feels like there are more in R2.
This means that while in RftA you had starting equip ( mod, armor, weapons ) that suggested the idea of different archetypes, in R2 there are true archetypes ( with specific skills, perks and an exclusive prime perk ).
You can have active 1 primary and one secondary one ( the primary will be the one using the prime perk ).
They also got rid of the useless tome farm though they recently added the prism system, which offers unnecessary grind for those who want to spend time grinding the game, but the last difficulty can be easily beaten even without prism.
Another thing that changed is that while RftA was harder in solo and easier in co-op ( apart from the bugged laser boss whose scaling was broken in co-op ), R2 is easier in solo and slightly harder in co-op.
2) It has way, way more secrets compared to the first one, but several of them has no real logic behind ( and also you might have to reroll several time to get the right spawn in DIFFERENT biomes at the same time, which might be boring ).
Also, some secrets ( items and traits) are locked behind co-op ( most of them are co-op items, but it might be frustrating for grinders/completionists ).
Luckily, there's the save guardian that saves the day.
The biggest issue is, anyway, the game performance ( bad fps, high GPU usage for nothing ) and lack of co-op QoL ( not being ablle to reconnect on a boss rush, for example ).
Anyway, great game so far ( especially in co-op ).
My only complaint is ( luckily my fps are good enough to play the game with no issue ) that they nerfed bosses over and over and now the game is kinda trivial no matter the difficulty.
