The game has a certain difficulty curve but you will do better once you get a better hang of things.
If it too harsh, you can re-roll your current Campaign with lower difficulty.
Veteran is also not helping. Its tough. Many usually start on easy then hop over on vet for a rerun or adventures. Then harder as they get better equipped. You're a sheet of paper and everything is just a little too overtuned.
Try to upgrade your guns, sometimes all you're lacking is a little extra punch. Maybe skipping some areas for a bit then coming back later could help, if possible. use consumables too. You do not have enough charges to properly go through zones without taking it slow, YET.
Practice makes perfect :]
My group struggled for 5 hours on an apoc boss the other day using suboptimal builds on our characters. We all have our bad moments. Just keep playing and you'll have fun. You're going to get a LOT stronger!
Any of the archetypes are serviceable there but some play a little stronger than others on that map for fresh start. If you have access to gunslinger, his skills and ammo conservation is good for that map in particular. Handler might be a good choice while you find your footing if you want to dive into veteran, as the dogs aggro and revives really come in clutch.
Don't be afraid to play the game on survivor. There's nothing wrong with gearing up and learning at that level. You'll be in nightmare/apoc sooner than you think if you just take the time to learn the maps and how the enemies operate.
If you ever want to pursue some of the hardcore rewards, I'd highly recommend NOT doing it solo. Have fun and don't be afraid to ask for help.
I think, I actually restart with survivor difficulty. Although I beat most souls games, this seems to be another beast, esp. I have to play with KBM for the aiming. (controller aiming is not my thing). Lost too much hairs already.
Will see, if I get the hang of it and go higher difficulty later
So, it's new for me to build a character independently from the campaign. I wasn't aware to build a character in survivor mode and later use it for a harder campaign.
Probably the items you find in Survivor mode are worse, I suppose.
Anyway, I know now, what to do. Thanks!
No shame in getting to know the game and powering up on Survivor then (if you still want to) replay / do adventures on harder difficulties.
This is one of the types of games where on the hardest mode you need a build to be able to tackle it. Unless you're crazy good
