Soon as I saw what was going on I darted back to the stone to reset that level. I didn't get any of the tomb dungeons in Yaesha the first time around and I got both Lament and Chimney in this playthrough, and they were both agony.
Neat puzzles though.
Pretty much this. The game seems to do a cone of vision check. As long as their face is out of your line of sight, they activate. They take I believe one second to deactivate when looked at, during which time they can take damage. Just look away, look back and pop a few shots. If done quickly enough, they barely move.
