Starting new classes - new character or use same?

I'm on my 3rd playthrough and trying out completely new classes with entirely diff build and weapons, and it's not working well. Even though I'm on survivor mode the game is much harder than a new character on veterans. It took ridiculously long to beat an elite since game is at 21 level when I'm basically at 0. So i'm feeling lost here as the balance feels way off.

In this situation is the game meant for me to start an entirely new character? I was hoping to use the rings and weapons i earned.

If you're trying to level archetypes, do it one at a time. One max level and the other one you want to level. This way you're not super gimped trying to level two level 1 archetypes. The exp trait and Mudtooth's exp drink would help a lot.

I take it i should keep my leveled weapons until i can upgrade the new ones I want to equip? thx

oh, and i'm guessing game is designed to level archetypes with the same character instead of starting a new one?

The only benefit of starting a new character is if you want to start as the unlocked archetypes. Or you want to do hardmode.

You can level all the archetypes on one character. But make sure that you are getting as much EXP as you can. Meaning using the MudTooth Elixir, Sage Ring, capping out the Scholar trait and having a max level archetype in the other slot
