GUYS, IT'S THE MODS. THE DEVS BROKE THE GAME FOR ANYONE WITH MODS
Uninstalling the "Allow Assets Mods" fixed it for me immediately.

For reference, in Common > Remnant2 > Binaries > Win64
The files are xinput1_3.dll, UE4SS-settings.ini, and the Mods folder.

You probably only need to delete the .dll, but I did all three for troubleshooting.
RIP 4+ multiplayer... :(

I hope you are right and its really just the mods. Some people reported lost save files and lost itmes :-/

The mods might not be the only reason, but for my buds and I, it was the mods for sure. We were using the 4+ multiplayer mod. As soon as we removed it, the game launched no problem, and no gear was lost.

I suspect malicious intent here from the Devs. It's their game, but pissing the playerbase off is not a great way to maintain a PvE fanbase.

Well, I firmly believe that, as so many times before, they just screwed something up. They didn't test this game properly before release and all the problems show that very clearly ;-)

Mods often break when games update, and the creator of the mod will have to update their mod to work with current patch. This happens in like every game

Wait, 4+ MP mod? Doesn't that go completely against the 3 player intended experience for MP?
TheRealDave Aug 11, 2023 @ 6:27pm
All my progress is gone. I didn't mod anything.

Not only that, if they are all summoners, good luck seeing anything on your screen pfff xD

Literally every game with a modding scene knows that updates will break the mods.

I guess it makes sense why that mod broke the game after the update.

So ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb

I don’t want to cheat the game, I just want to keep progressing

if the game has a level cap, and you modify the game files to go past that, that is cheating.

the level cap in one of my favorite multiplayer games is 50. I would love to be level 60, but that would be cheating.

Also, if anyone lost saves/items because they were cheating, thats 100% deserved.
I'm with the current trait cap since that is what the Devs intended Remnant 2 to have but I feel like it was a half baked idea that was added without much testing hence why Traits power level/usefulness aren't nearly on par with one another. QoL Traits are a clear sign that at some point Remnant 2 had the same Trait system as From the Ashes.

That said, Remnant: From the Ashes had no cap and for many fans of that game it gave the game more reason to grind out as you'll always progress in some way. As long as it is kept within a single player character, there is no reason to be up at arms with mods. Let people enjoy how they want to play their game.

This is like if my friend and I are playing a board game with our own custom set of rules. It isn't officially condone but we aren't affecting anyone else and as far as other people know, they don't care about our custom rules because it doesn't matter.

Like with Monster Hunter modding debate, my stance on mods are: As long as it is in single player, cosmetics, or doesn't in anyway affect other players online it is fine.

The guy you’re replying to is an anti-trait crap mod zealot. He posts about it all day on here

The trait cap is bad, period. Devs should want people grinding their game for hundreds of hours

I mod since more then 20 years, but i dont mod games i play in multiplayer. I also admit that it is actually shocking how comfortable some people speak about modding this game :-/

But yeah i guess if you play only solo or with friends wich are fine with your mods, it wont hurt legit players at least. But i do not encourage modding in multiplayer games ;-)

the fascinating thing to me is that people somehow think that they get to declare that the trait cap is "bad" and that the devs should change the game, and that actually work.

the devs get to decide what the power level of your character is, and if they decide to raise the cap, then they will, but the fact that they only raised it 5 points shows that its not going to be going up very much.

people can always cheat to raise the cap if they want to do that.

Just because someone is a developer, does not mean they make the best decisions. Take a look at some of the bigger games. Diablo 4 is one that has been in recent discussions where the developers constantly make bad choices but have improved a few things recently after listening to the players. The same applies to a lot of games.

A significant amount of Quality of Life improvements that developers implement is due to feedback. A game, and a business overall, that ignores the feedback of their players/users, is an entity that is working against itself.

Bingo

The trait cap isn't bad, it's just too low. By the time you were done even a single playthrough of Remnant 1, your trait level was like 100 or more.

"The devs broke the game"
You mean you broke the game by modifying it?
