What happens when you level archtype to 10, swap out, put points in it, and swap back?

Something I haven't tried because I'm a little worried what might happen: If you level an archtype to 10 you unlock it as a trait to put points into when it is swapped out.

So lets say my engineer is 10. I swap it out. I now have the trait that allows me to increase armor effectiveness. I put points in it. If I then swap back Engineer, what happens? Does it get added? Are the trait points removed and can I spend it elsewhere, or are the trait points permanently lost? Given how many posts I've seen about people losing their trait points I'm worried it is the third option.

so for the archtype traits if you swap them out you will lose all points but you can put traits poitns into any archtype trait you have unlocked with any archtype equiped

like as a example, i am using archon, at level 10, so i get free points in flash caster, the archon trait. however if i swap to a different archtype, i lose the free points in flash caster. however i can then use my earned trait points to put into flash caster again if i watned. If i then switch back to archon, the points i put into flash caster will be automatically refunded

Any allocated points that become redundant when you switch archetypes will be refunded to you, allowing you to spend them on something else.

Refunded, not for free.

If you put 10 points in a trait, then swap to an archetype with a base +2 on that trait, those 2 points will be unallocated. If you swap back, that trait will be at 8.

Worth mentioning that the Orb of Regret now has unlimited uses.
