auto-hdr is a windows 11 feature regardless if a game has hdr...

Not sure, is that in the windows settings where you turn hdr on and off?

Damn, now i want to buy this game but not sure if I will have time with AC and Starfield coming.

Just because you can turn on auto HDR, does not mean that the game supports it. Look here at this list of supported auto HDR games, Remnant 2 is not supported. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/List_of_games_that_support_Auto_HDR

Windows HDR does make a difference. But the game reacts kind wierd to it , like you do get more details in the highlights , but I dont love the look of it .
Anyway if you dont have a proper HDR 1000 display HDR is probably aint worth your while

This is right and you usually get a notification when auto HDR is supported.

It's because your monitor is effectively going into "variable back light" mode, not HDR. If you have a FALD monitor then the monitor will dim dark areas and boost the light areas, but this is not HDR. This is why the brightness is not as high as it would be in an HDR supported game. The colors also look washed out. Go and look at the settings in Windows for HDR and it will show the difference between HDR and SDR with Windows HDR turned on. The game has to support HDR/Auto HDR for it to work. Remnant 2 does not support either.
