First and foremost, there is the fact that there is an account-wide meta-progression component in place. There are many rewards, like weapons, rings, amulets, armor sets, and most significantly, archetypes, that become available to all characters once unlocked. As a result, this will give you a wider range of options whenever you start off on a new character.
Second, there is the addition of death prevention mechanics. You can't prevent all types of deaths with these, but they do give you a bit of a safety net for most combat situations.
Now, as I mentioned before, these things are not exclusive to hardcore; however, they do seem to be almost tailor made for it. For example, aside from maybe starting a fresh run with friends, there is really no reason to create another non-hardcore character, so the benefits of the account-wide rewards will be felt almost exclusively when playing in hardcore mode. A similar thing could be said for the death-prevention mechanics. When playing normally, death is a minor temporary setback; not so much for hardcore, so the effect is that much more significant.
Hope this helps.
I am literally known as the hardcore guy on the discord server to reach out to when its about hardcore. Like Lefi and Frisky are the ones for speedruns for this game (which i do too, but i started way later and they both do skips while i do no skip speedrunning)
duno what you expect out of a hardcore mode with how you are asking but all i expected was a one life mechanic, and thats all it is. It is completely separate from any difficulty increase other then that your character gets deleted if you die.
there are 4 rings, 1 amulet and 1 gun (but can be corrupted so basically 2) locked behind hardcore as unlocks.
maybe you know all that already but im gonna write it out anyways.
the "early" game is usually seen as your first entire campaign, with the mid game being the next ones up to 10 campaigns after which you should finally have all the stuff for build making and going for prisms which is seen as the late game.
ofcause more casual players could finish after finishing a single campaign but the game is made to be replayed so for the story alone, you will at least have to play some adventures of the stories you havent seen yet.
Now, regarding meta-progression, I want to be clear: most of the items you will come across are tied exclusively to your character. On the other hand, the things that can be unlocked for all characters are:
- Archetypes
- Rewards for beating the campaign. Higher difficulty levels will also unlock the previous level rewards.
- Rewards for hardcore mode campaign progression.
- Some of the more complicated to obtain items can be unlocked for all characters, so you only have to go through the process once.
- Several hidden rewards for doing certain actions.
Once unlocked, these will become available for puchase through vendors at Ward 13.
Just letting you know in advance, so you can temper your expectations a bit.
So we can actually get EVERY item, as it is in the normal gameplay, in hardcore?
One required story boss is a non-traditional boss encounter that can oneshot you regardless of your defenses or any extra lives.
There are also certain side dungeons that employ instant kill traps.
Hardcore is not the 'intended' way to play Remnant 2. Some people enjoy it though. Personally I think it's better left as a 2nd character kinda thing. I imagine Hardcore would be quite frustrating for most first-time players.
this is what we did for participarion medal lmao (die to a boss multiple times on apoc)

if you dont know, in coop, you only die if the entire team dies. else you can just be revived like normal making hardcore coop a lot less difficult then singleplayer
