You are pretty much constantly under attack in HD2/SM2 VS Remnant 2 where you're free to take your time and explore.
Remnant 2 also allows you to customize your playstyle significantly as there are no restrictions on equipment. You have a ton of different options on how to build your character. You can make them focused on gunplay, ability spam or something in between. With the right equipment you can make just about anything work.
As a final note, I like this game a lot but I would not recommend it to someone looking for a story driven experience. The game does have a campaign but dialogue and any kind of character interaction is largely absent. You also will not be showered with loot either. Some places online claim this game is a "looter shooter" but I think that's incorrect. Remnant 2 lacks "ARPG" features like item rarity and random stats.
The best advice I can give you is to check out some gameplay online. It should be immediately apparent that Remnant 2 doesn't have much in common with SM2 or HD2.
Honestly, it was that very description I read in a random Steam thread that made me instantly buy the first game.
Remnant 2 is a game that is based on replayability and procedural generation - this is when with each new pass of a repetitive location you will see a part of new branches of smaller locations (like the same constructor models, but differently assembled, somewhere the model is repeated, somewhere different, but in general it is a different object) - this is its strength, new bosses and get new loot. The number of classes is more than 10, weapons are more.
These are very different games in spirit. If in Space Marine 2 the emphasis is on close combat (spamming tyranids and their kills - reminiscent of spamming zombies in World War Z, then in Remnant 2 the emphasis is more on ranged combat and greater flexibility in builds. Remnant 2 is full of non-obvious secrets, attempts to surprise the appearance of certain characters and interactions with them, and even puzzles.
That's how different your question is...
No.
A lil bit.
Outside of that nah, HD2 and SM2 both are missionsbased type of games where the focus is to beat the mission without dying. This Game is more of a traditional campaignbased concept (tho very soulslike inspired) with checkpoint/campfire to respawn and such. It adds replaybility by allowing rerolling the campaign which generates some stuff, but again it's not strictly missionbased.
Ive seen a lot of gameplays online and they look like good co-op fun.
I loved Hunt Showdown but hated how tense it was since i had to compete against real veterans. Thats why i love co-op games but dont like mindlessly hack and slashing in SM2.
Ive never played a soulslike. R2 reminds me of Hunt showdown as a co-op game.
Guess i'll just have to try it. Should i get the ultimate edition or standard?
Hows coop with strangers? I never play with friends .i just like to drop in and out when im available .
Thanks
How does co-op with strangers work?
Im hoping r2 is like hunt showdown but co-op mode and with lots of armor/weapon selection.
Is communication necessary in coop w strangers?
I will need to play in asia servers
