I struggle with the Hunter class
I feel like this class has a very steep learning curve.
My biggest problem is that even tho I basically one shot regular mobs, I get quickly overwhelmed by fast or charging bosses/mobs.

The pistol barely scratches the enmies but the bolt action sniper is really making you glasscannon.

Anyone has tips with the best starting method with the Hunter? I use the caltrops as a weapon enhancement and even with these, I get massively charged and one shot :s

Maybe I am unlucky with the RNG enmies on this particular archetype.

gotta learn enemy attacks and dodge them.
if you end up getting overwhelmed by enemies it's prob due to rushing in w/o a plan, this will kill u p quickly especially when u play on apoc (which I assume you do since u said u getting 1 shot). but even on apoc with the starting armor you shouldn't get 1 shot??

obv when you have hunters mark up, you can be a lot more aggressive. it's also p useful to get a feeling when and where enemies will likely spawn especially elites.

when it comes to mods, it's just preference I'd say. I like going with hot shot and heal shot.. heal shot can be quite the life saver when it gets spicy.

It's all about dodge and aim.
Eventually, pair the hunter ( prime perk ) with the gunslinger, to have more damage, ammos and burst.

Usually I don't use relics at all ( medic perk that give 50% extra healing effects and summoner for 1.5 hp/s are enough ), so you might want to try getting them and save your mods for extra damage ( since you use caltrops I suppose you are doing your first run so, eventually, consider lower the difficulty ).

Finally, getting help from other players ( avoid randoms though. Just ask here on steam or on the official discord ) could help you chilling and learn how to deal with enemies.

There was this "Tuxedo outfit man", in a dark city, (can't remember the name) I shot his head off and he transformed into toxic Monster spewing poisonous blobs at me. This just reduced my HP in a matter of seconds not because I could kill him but because he rushed so fast , even retrating back into an alley proved unsuccesful.

Maybe I need to level the hunter up because like I said, It's the class I struggle most with. Maybe I'll have to get used to dying before uping my skills.

I am on the learning curve with relic stuff and all. But I understand what type of relic and perk befinits a class opposed to another.
I guess I'll stick first with my "DOGGIE class" before touching the Hunter.

Depending on the difficulty you picked. The Hunter is one of the strongest classes. Keep investing in upgrading your main gun as soon as possible. Of course early game is difficult and you need to focus on shooting weak spots.

Certain weapons perform worse than others in specific situations. Bolt action is very good for bosses/single enemies. Not great for large groups without mods. It has a small magazine size and relatively low rate of fire, but decent reload speed.

If you can afford it, buying a different weapon for different situations can help. A good choice is AR47 long gun. There is also the smg handgun in the ward. That's also a great weapon for large groups.

Some mods can also help.

Scrapshot, Concussive shot are both great crowd control mods and are immediately available from mccabe.
