I agree, it isn't hard. But the devs decided to add all kinds of crap that can make you easily slip up. So no, it's not a "good" puzzle "boss fight"
My biggest complaint is that cube above you when the "fight" starts. It legit spun around like a minute and a half before I could get a clear shot... only for a random projectile to hit me and had to wait again.
Said projectiles doing like minimal damage, and then all of a sudden chunking a quarter of my health. But always hits you when you really don't want to be crushed.
The controls spontaneously deciding that I didn't hold space bar, and send me plummeting to my doom instead of jumping the gap.
I love this game so far, but this "boss fight" is baaaaaaaaaaaad. And shows the issues in the controls of the game and make it painfully obvious, that your character will only do what you want if they aren't on lunch break. I seriously hope that this is the only boss like this, that has to rely on a stupid gimmick to "gotcha" instead of a fair fight. It's fine if a designer wants to demand the very best of their players, but then have to design it fair in kind and not with crap like this.
Let's put it like this: There's a very good reason why a boss like the bed of chaos, never returned to the From Software souls series. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for the sake of being ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. And they recognised how dumb it was.
"Hold" space bar? No wonder you fell.
The way the mechanic works, is that when a roll animation will take you over the ledge, it will transition into a jump automatically. I've found that the best way to ensure it comes out consistently is to press the button early and to do so multiple times.
Also, Labyrinth Sentinel is a good boss. There are some unnecessarily cruel design choices in Rem 2, but Lab Sent is not one of them.
Hey that's what the tutorial at the start said, and yes it does work, I don't just run towards the ledge holding space bar obviously, I dodge into it, holding it in, and in this particular "fight" it seems like the gaps decide whether or not you had the right frame or whatever before it registers you should leap.
As Daggwr also says, I cannot imagine doing this on a hardcore game. This is an action rpg, not a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ roguelike, It shouldn't have ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bosses like this with a gimmick that kills you instantly due to rng.
And to Postman Pat, name me any boss after dark souls 1 that had an instant kill gimmick like this like the Bed of Chaos. Even Miyazaki himself said they'll never do a boss like that again. This is a boss design not suited for this kind of game. Period.
no one is that slow, but Deacons of the Deep cast a one hit KO spell in DS3
There's a dancing Lion that cast blight. ok it's not INSTANT you need to be grabbed twice but Radahn with Miquella. believe me I could keep going for a while.
The cube ain't the Only boss with an insta kill gimmick.
inb4 "no no I meant , I just hate holes in video games ._. "
Every single one you mentioned have factors you can fully control, and no outside factors impeding your gameplay, sure some like say mohg has that thing with the rings, but it was not an instant kill out of your control, and framed in a way to tell you like the serpent lord there is something you need before attempting it again
And the Iron King wasn't Miyazaki's idea, or even the soulsborne team, and a non issue for ranged players. Heck even in melee I don't think I ever once fell off the platform once in that fight. Something like that Pursuer Knight is more in line with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with it's broken attack hitboxes, but it wasn't a one hit 100% of the time, and there wasn't outside factors in that fight that could stun lock you or drain your health for just wanting to play patiently.
If this boss fight either had the projectiles or that huge cube attack that it sends out draining your health, that wouldnt be a problem, but the fact it sends these things after you at the same time, on top of having to make sure you stand in the correct spot to not die instantly and some cubes taking 40 presidential terms to reveal the crystals that need to be shot is just so bad. It's friggin rng on when those crystals can be shot, and one small slip up and you're dead, either by being crushed, killed by projectiles/life drain.
And this is from someone that used to hunt MH1 Fatalis for fun, and plays around with MHW Fatalis xD
And never said it was impossible, not even hard. It's stupid.
This boss is great.
The way i do it is: Stay at the beginning and shoot all you can get from that position, then go right and around to get the rest.
Having additional healing on you helps with projectiles hitting you eventually.
Not too complicated.
