The main .pak files in Remnant II are 43 and 45 giga Bytes -- i. e., you'll need, at least 45GB to update.
Which is good rule in general (because your computer needs some free space to do various operations in background) but can be not enough on smaller disks.
With Steam added to the mix, you need to have enough room to patch your games (one at a time).
The patching operation on Steam is:
- Steam download the patch
- Steam copies the files to patch
- Steam applies the patch to the copied filed
- Steam overwrite the original files with the patched files
So, for Steam to update a game, you need to have enough room to store the copies of the files.
With Remnant 2, most of the game is contained within 2 files of 30-40GB each, so you need to have ~80GB free on your disk for the update to be done correctly (with a good download speed, enough room and a ssd, it's usually done in less than 2 min).
30GB is not enough on Steam because SteamPipe is what it is.
