Talk to Mudtooth, listen to his stories, then listen to his stories again everytime after you beat a World Boss in campaign mode

This ^

To unlock Gunslinger simply exhaust Mudtooth's dialogue. Talk to him until he tells a story you've heard > go clear a world boss.

Return to town > Repeat the process.

You'll get the class once you've heard all his stories. He will generally start with any new stories when you return to town after beating a world boss.

For the sake of clarity a "World Boss" is the end boss of a world. Mudtooth will not have new stories after killing a dungeon boss. World bosses are unique enemies, rather than powered up elites. You'll know when you run into one.

I wonder if the Labyrinth boss also count, because I got the archetype after defeating the N'erud and Losomn word boss (with no adventure mode runs or campign reroll).

I've tested this recently on a hardcore character. It seems to be tied to the Strange Object you get after beating a world boss. After the first world boss & after you give the 1st Strange Object to the Keeper you can exhaust Mudtooth's stories & get the Gunslingers Ring. After you beat the 2nd world boss you technically don't have to give the 2nd Strange Object to the Keeper, but this is when I tried to claim the Gunslinger Archetype from Mudtooth (thinking I just had to beat the 2nd world boss). He had more stories but never gave me the Gunslinger's Amulet or Worn Cylinder. So after checking in game if I had missed something the only idea I had was to return to the Keeper with the 2nd Strange Object & after turning it in (cut-scene plays) I returned to Mudtooth & he had a couple more stories. This resulted in him giving me the Gunslinger's Amulet & Worn Cylinder, so I think it has something to do with the main quest progression revolving around the Strange Objects & whether or not you've turn them in. So if you haven't, try that & see if he hands the Archetype over to you then.

Yes, I gave the Keeper the pieces one by one and that must be it.
I guess the wiki is wrong by that one and you actually only need to complete 2 worlds then, good to know.

I couldn't get it at first despite clearing the full story and each adventure mode area 2 times before talking with Mudtooth. The solution that worked for me and both of my teammates was for me to travel to story Ruined Earth, then back to the ward, this makes it dark and rainy at the ward, then Mudtooth told the final story.
