PS. I do not need them myself. but I'm curious of the method.
Roll the Red Throne starting area in Adventure mode at Apocalypse difficulty. Progress through the first open area until you reach the flute player beside a dungeon entrance.
If there are wooden structures at ground level just before the flutist, keep this world. If not, reroll until you find that layout.
Enter the dungeon and touch the crystal. Exit back out.
You are looking for a wooden hut on either the left or right with one set of stairs leading up in front, extensive damage and no roof.
Lure a 1-2 enemies in and position yourself on the upper floor, standing to either the left side of the stairs or the right, depending on which side your hut spawns in. You will know you are one the correct side if enemies climb to the top of the stair and stop.
Now wait, leaving 1-2 enemies alive and unable to reach you. Within a minute or two an abberation should spawn in the back of the hut. Kill all enemies, collect the shard, reset at the dungeon worldstone (optional?), repeat. A build with high armor and survivability is recommended.
(If an abberation doesn't spawn within a minute or two, move towards the other side of the hut until an elite spawns. Deal with the elite, check that enemies are still trapped on the stairs, otherwise lure in some, and reposition yourself. Within 2-3 elite spawns, an abberation usually appears.)
Just farmed 19 crystals using this method tonight, with a bit of trial and error taken to learn it.
take seekers rest as start and make your way to the first crystal - phantom wastland.
from there you can easy farming.
kite one robot - wait until he calls more.
kill the old and some of the new but one must be at life.
repeat this until an elit is spawning - if this happen reload at the crystal.
is an abarranth spawn kill him and then dont reload and take an other robot and repeat.
i got 10 shards within 1h and only need to reload four times.
i am farming it right at the moment - if someone will to your welcome.
first spawned and i killed it - fight an other robot and the second come out. and this happend a third time.
yes it was luck and some other rounds i get mor elite but from 10 spawns i think 3 of them are abberations.
for me it looks like the spawn very good. and for me it works very well.
Combat is pretty fun too, places to run and hide.
The level is not long and you can get a max of 3 abberations per run but the average number is 1.

Furthermore this is affected by the intensity of a given map. Unfortunately we can not see itensity, but if you get a high intensity map you will get a lot more aberrations to spawn.
Scripted elites can not be replaced with aberrations. That's why you won't get as many while playing the losomn DLC as it has a ton of scripted elites.
Other than that any method that makes you stay in combat works. People use root nexus for that aswell as you count as in combat as long as you are near the boss.
This still works. I’ve done this in nightmare on PS5. 5 shards in 2 hours.
