It doesn't feel optimized
When I buy a game I will spend at least an hour in settings fixing up the frames to my liking. I am also noticing that the CPU usage in this game at the start of the game is low. If I run the game on HIGH I get 68-70 FPS without upscaling. If i use upscaling DLSS Quality I get 95-96 FPS.

my specs:
12600K
RTX 3080
Teamgroup DDR5 6000mhz CL 30-36-36
aorus z690 ultra
WD black sn 850x (boot, programs)
WD black sn 850 ( games)
WD blue sn 570 ( recordings)

CPU temp: 50-55c
GPU temp: 60-64c

EDIT: I play in 1440p

Gotta say, I agree, especially in the new overworld, I play on 1080P Ultra, with Xess on UQ+ and it still drop to the lower 50s often, the previous DLC's overworld also gave me this kind of problem during launch, but as of now, the overworld from OTK is usually around 70s, maybe after some patches, it will be optimized.

i've yet to experience the game sitting at above 100fps consistently, played since launch, i have no problem with other games running at decent fps, most of my games stay at 120-144fps with my prefferences in settings, i tried the new fsr frame gen, i don't think it works, cause i literally had the same fps as without it, my best fps is with the intell upscaler set to quality of all things. if i turn down certain settings my fps drops.....

the performance is like at launch all over the place and very inconsistent, plus with the new dlc i get random lagg spikes of screen freezing for like a second once in a while, super jarring very annoying.

i don't see why i shouldn't be able to run a game like this on potato graphics and get 100fps+ consistently with my rig, but that has not been possible for me with this game, ever.

setups is:
ryzen 9 3900x
rx 6900xt
ddr4 3600mhz
asus crosshair VIII hero
corsair mp600 pci-e 4.0 nvme drive for game and 256gb sata ssd for boot drive.
1440p 144hz monitor

your cpu needs like 600 frames to be 100% so that doesnt mean anything.

70 fps without upscaling sounds about right with a 3080.. Why you are not capped at 100% gpu usage is a good question, but youre already at the limit of a 3080(i have a 4090 and a 3080)
DLSS quality fps also sounds what it should be.
Lower graphics or put dlss to perforamnce/ultra performance

You are getting 100fps. What exactly do you think you should be getting with that set up? Based on that information I think you are getting exactly what you should be getting.

Correction.. I’m getting 100fps with DLSS.. that’s not native and I’m only using 1440p.

After further testing I see that DLSS quality gets the same frames as using ultra performance mode. Also, I’ve seen that the in game settings do nothing to increase frames. For example running lowest vs High doesn’t do much.

The only setting that gives enough boost to frames by turning in lower is “shadow quality” it gives an extra 10+ FPS. And you ask what do I expect? Well, I expect an optimized game is all. If I can tweak settings on every other game and get 120-165 FPS in 1440p then I should be able to here with this game. And those games I don’t have to use DLSS to do it either.

i went from 60-70 fps on my 3070 with DLSS on Quality, to 35 fps on the new Yaesha tileset. refunded.

Yes the FPS in this game is so random. DLC zones are the worst!

I went from 50-60fps on my 3080 to 100fps with the FSR 3 and frame gen implementation. You should try that.

fsr 3 with framegen gives me less fps then i get on Xess quality preset, i have a full amd build.

I'm on a 3080 with a 3600.

I just tested it out and It looks like I’m getting the same frames. The only thing that’s helped get more frames is turning the shadow quality to low. I can also turn the resolution to 1080p to get a good boost

But what I’m not understanding is why DLSS is not implemented correctly into this game.. Because if I use 1440p native, turn on DLSS performance, or balanced the resolution should be around 720p upscaled to my native using A.i… why do I get a big boost turning native to 1080p, but 720p DLSS upscaled to 1440p gives me way less? It doesn’t make sense.

How finicky are you guys? Used to be gameplay and now its how many frames per second?
Ehhh idk that it's finnicky. This game gets increasingly difficult to play the further below 60fps you go.

Idk exactly why we all struggle to get good and stable fps in this game, but I do know that all the UE5 titles are like this. Hopefully Unreal figures this ♥♥♥♥ out. If they don't then we'll all have to wait for frame gen and upscaling to improve. Good news though is that it's already getting pretty good. Going from DLSS to FSR and enabling frame generation gave me a 40-50 fps boost. I do notice the frame generation in certain situations, but the overall experience is way more enjoyable than getting an avg fps of 50-60.

i'm so finicky that i'd like my game not to lagg, and have second long stutters on a machine that basicly runs anything else under the sun at 1440p 120fps+ in this game i don't even stay above 60 consistently, my fps is swinging from 30-100fps that is too large of a fluctuation.
