Convoluted archetype unlocks
Some friends and I are about to try this game for the first time, so I was reading some "beginner tip guides." And then I found one for unlocking more archetypes.

... Why do these look so convoluted? Get this item, go to that place, get these items, some items appear randomly...

Holy crap it sounds like a headache. Why is it designed like this? Do people like having to ALT+TAB over to a guide repeatedly? Or am I overthinking it?

this is one of the weakest points of this game. tranquil and tormented hearts will break most people.

Edit: silver and gold ribbon, the 2 fae false king ring and necklace, any convert item from nimue. god even remembering that grind makes me ill.

All of them boils down to "solve a puzzle, get a reward" but they get ridiculously obtuse at times (the final archetype was intentionally designed to REQUIRE datamining to figure out the unlock conditions). My favorite is the one from the Losomn DLC which is just "drop down into a secret area and fight a miniboss", at least you can figure it out without a wiki.

Because they are. I'm not gonna lie, they are a pain in the ass. The good thing is, you only have to do it ONCE, as the archetype items will be moved to a vendor in other playthroughts, as well as being available to pick from start with new characters.

I still haven't unlocked the final/endgame archetype; I'll save it for my next playthrough after months not touching it.

many people wont even know engineer exist unless they were told. same with alchemist and even then you have to do it a perticular way in coop. invader requires a losomn melee weapon dont see how it boils down to "solve a puzzle" if you dont even know they are there.

They're called "hidden archetypes" for a reason.

If you'd rather not deal with the process to get them just grab a save file off nexusmods or some other site and skip it.

Ok, so, can I make a character to play on my own, unlock some archetypes, and then eventually swap to those archetypes for my co-op character?

its ok to have items that are "Hidden" you will not convince me that one of the main mechanics of the game should be "Hidden".

having one class only be found through data mining? please dont come to defense of this. its ridiculous. ive already unlocked the classes.

the biggest complaint that anyone can see is "dont like annihilation" and "dont like having to look to a guide to find everything".

its padding. losomn was clear proof by having the majority of the games items stuffed there.

I read that after you unlock a character, the item needed becomes available for purchase in Wallace's shop for other characters.

That is correct. To be fair, there is only one archetype that's really convoluted to obtain, and that is the Archon, and that's because It was meant as a kind of easter egg for data miners to find. Unlocking it requires discovering a bunch of other secrets first, so if you look it up right off the bat you're going to get a lot of spoilers.

As for the rest, they're kind of hidden in plain sight, so to speak, although they can be quite challenging for those not in the know.

Overall, I personally recommend doing a blind run initially to see how much stuff you can find on your own, and only look up specific things you get stuck on.

Choosing 'Skip' during character creation immediately goes to Archetypes selection along respective weapons. That was how Explorer could get Hero's Sword immediately, which now replaced with shovel.

I mean....the devs clearly said archon was intended to be datamined, that is all the defense this needs. They wanted and intended it that way, whether it irks you or not, its not anyones problem.

Personally enjoyed the search for them.

Its just to create some news and headlines for articles and videos.
But this game took the concept of secrets very far away from fun.
If you are serious about remnant 2 and want all items you need to play yhe game with 4 web pages open, world analyzer and a friend

I'd happily play with your group if you guys need tips, advice, or heavy hitters :)

I played 300 hours without guides. Trying to solve the puzzles and secrets by myself. Good times.

At th end yes i needed to look a guide for the last items but i could solve the most of the content by myself, it take time yes but it was not wasted time for me. In fact i loved the hunt.
