Corrupted Shards
On 17-21/5/2024, my character somehow got 2 corrupted shards, I don't know how, or why, but after that, I can't get any more. Is Corrupted Shard only drop when killing Abberants? Is there any way I can get it now, or do I have to wait for the next event:steamsad:?

Whenever there is a elite spawn (when you hear the sound) it has a chance to spawn an abberration instead of the elite. Killing those can give you the corrupted shards.
The chance to spawn them differs per game difficulty. On Apocalypse its 50% chance.

All the event did was make the abberrations more frequent. They are still obtainable even after its ended.

Is abberration the one elite mob with modified? I try to kill a few of them, sometimes they drop, but sometimes they don't.
For example, there's an elite mob in Forlorn Coast, I try to kill it, but it never drops.
The only reason I could think of is, if the mob was scripted, they'll not drop.

That is correct. The ones that are in fixed locations don't drop shards, only the ones that appear randomly do.

Finally, I got the new drop...
Wow, that's rare, It's not normal rare, it's super rare since abberration spawn rate was super low.

When dev's brought abberations in the game, there was an special event with high spawn chance of abberations. After that event they decreased the spawnrate of abberations significantly which makes farming of corrupted shard quite painful.
Furthermore corrupted shards only drop from randomly spawned abberations. Scripted abberations do not drop shards at all because it would become to easy to farm them.

There are some methods in the game that allow you to farm shards effectively. Just search on the internet to find out more.
But be careful because a lot of ppl. who created these guides just lie about how effective these methods really are.
The N'Erud farm is one example in my opinion. I tried this method as solo player and had just one shard drop per 45 minutes to 1 hour.
After that I found my own method, solo farming again, where I got around 1 shard each 10 - 15 minutes.

As said there are several methods that will do the job. But you have to find out which one suits your playstyle most.
