Crossplay between PS5 and Steam?

So I wanted to finally play this game with a friend. I play on Steam , and he is on PS5.
How exactly does it work? We couldn't join each other. I get into the game and finish with the tutorial. Once I go to my friend list I can't see my friend because I got him added on epic games not steam.

We both linked our accounts to the epic launcher.

you need to open up the epic overlay (doesn't work with frame generation) and invite/join each other there.

make sure your ps5 friend has turned on crossplay in their settings.

Thank you Joreck, when I open the epic launcher I can’t see on my name that I am playing currently the game. Also, when I’m in the game I try pressing shift+F3 but it doesn’t work. Couldn’t find any setting to activate the command.

same problem; Shift + F3 doesn't do anything... and i cannot play with my Xbox friends from Steam...

That’s no ideal. I got the game to play co op so hopefully someone replies with a solution.

for shift f3 to work you actually need epic games the app downloaded on your pc i had the same problem with a friend and getting the app fixed it for me

Okay! So I found the solution, which I completely missed. BEFORE selecting your character to get into the game, the top left corner had a button to synchronise with epic Games, simple as that... I was able to use SHIFT + F3 after that.
In my defence, the font of the bottom on my screen was very dim and I wasn't able to see it properly. I bet this happened to the rest of.

did all that, i have epic opened and relinked it to be sure. Shift F3 still doesn't work. no frame generation

Yep, same here. No button on the steam version only Shift+F3 (and no frame gen)

Just before choosing your character there was not any bottom top left corner?
I literally started a new game and finish the tutorial, then I was able to join my friend.

i assume the problem is coming from an Epic Game Store overlay behavior.
At the end of last year, i googled to find how to stop displaying Epic Games overlay ingame (i don't remember what game was bugging because of the overlay). I found that Epic has no option to hide the launcher overlay, but people on Reddit found a solution by renaming 2 .exe in the installation folder of Epic Games store (and it worked).
I remembered that, renamed the .bak files back to .exe, rebooted, even reinstalled the whole Epic Games Store program. But nothing worked. The Epic Games overlay never showed on my Remnant II Steam version.

I am having the same issues. We had it working before the recent update, now it wont let me see my "friends list" using shift + F3 - but my bf who is on PS5 can come and join me.

I tried your guides above and even disconnected my steam and epic games from each other and redoing it all again, but that hasn't helped either.

Can you show us a screenshot of this button ?

Once it's used, it disappears. Top left corner of character selection is where it should be, though.
