If you are playing coop perhaps you can afford to be in range. In solo though its all about close to mid range.
id just say, and that with all my respect sir, you suck at looting
I am not far in London yet, hopefully I will indeed find at least one better gun since the beginning of the game.
if you have the enemies in your face thats your play style, which isnt bad in general, especially if you play with a shotgun, but the game doesnt force that on you.
you can play with a distance which i highly prefer cause its a lot less difficult to heal yourself if you can simply throw down a shield or go behind cover and the enemy first needs to walk all that way to you as if you stand right next to them and insta kill attacks dont get me either this way
I spent a couple of hours yesterday speed running through the campaign on Survivor, effortlessly wasting everything, barely even breaking my stride. At the end of this, I got Anguish.
But Anguish is slow and annoying to use, while also being less effective, so why would I use it?
As for long guns, I'm going to agree the Engineer has the best start because they get the Pulse Rifle. It's a right pain to acquire and it's very good. It's fast, powerful, accurate and holds loads of ammo. The downside is it sounds pretty naff.
When I want to one-shot mini bosses and aberrations, I use the Krell Axe. Build it for heavy attack bleed and status and you'll never even need a long gun.
The Krell Axe is more fun to use than guns, deals vastly more damage, kills groups easily, has very long range and requires a bit of skill to use effectively. It's just plain better and I'll never stop using it. On apocalypse it still one shots basic enemies. Elites get more bleed from Twisting Wounds, and more overload from Enigma.
What is the point of using weapons which are neither as fun to use, nor as effective? Why would I use some lame shotgun which needs two or three shots when I can hurl an axe? Why would I creep through a dungeon, carefully drawing enemies one at a time, when I can sprint through and zap everyone once, then let them die as I keep running?
