So if I play with a complete stranger, I should somehow find them on steam, send them a message on steam to ask what's their discord, add them as a friend on a somewhat private network where I have my friends, just to communicate per game? Nah son, doesn't work like that. I like to keep my privacy. This game sucks anyway, and I have since beating it, not played anymore, and probably won't again. I'd rather play the first one. Every game I've ever played in the last 20 years has had some form of communication, except this one? You kidding me!? Even fighting games have communication.
So you haven't played any of FromSoft's games?
Gotta love joining a public lobby, having crazy delays on everything you do (Like 300 ping) and then leaving because it's unplayable.
It's things like this that kills games, the game had over 110,000 players just over a month ago, it's now hovering around 11-12,000 players in a 24 hour peak, a co-op game like this losing that many players in just over a month is insane and the thing is it's not even a bad game, it's an excellent game but the lack of basic multiplayer features is killing the game.
Do want to point out that devs said they are currently working on loadouts, at least.
There's also a bunch of people who violently and aggressively support the lack of these functions. They act like it's the end of the world if we get a text chat or lobby lists. I don't understand why they get so upset when we ask for these things. It's not like anyone will FORCE them to use those things. They could just make it so you can turn it off, and the other players would see that they aren't able to see text.
They made so much money on release its kind of insulting they won't even announce PLANS to add ANYTHING for multiplayer quality of life. I have tried to use discord, the people there are rude and pretentious, or are just selling hacks or carries. I just want someone to play with normally, casually, without having to search through piles of discord posts from the same handful of people who don't even play anymore they're just there to mock people or have a clique.
Everything you said is exactly what I'm thinking, and since I posted this, I haven't played again, and probably won't.
They are contrarians.
Don't fixate on what they say, if they try to make objective reality something subjective.
As at that point they are either trolling, or mentally ill, both of which can be more or less ignored.
No sense fighting with folks with problems holding an actual honest discussion.
Around 5 people on these forums so far, have been this way, so it is by no means common.
I'm on the discord and this is a load of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Most of them are very nice.
Devs already announced QOL stuff like loadouts coming on the reddit AMA. Either way, some sort of communications besides emotes would be great.
It's hit and miss. Notice you said "most." In the same way, most people you meet using lobby lists in-game are similarly mostly nice. So the argument that we cant have lobby lists because a few people are trolls also applies to discord and thus that logic eats itself...
You were saying there are "Aggressive defenders" of keeping folks from chatting or other QOL features, and in a lot of cases, they are Contrarians.
Voice and Text chat would be nothing but good, useful features.
Having a toggle would be nice for those that don't like it.
Not only a toggle, they could even make the game default to "off." It's a ridiculous argument that public matchmaking is toxic and somehow discord isn't. It's the same player base, isn't it? In fact, I find the average interaction on discord to be worse than public lobbies. Public lobbies have a high chance of people not even USING the chat features, but lobby lists helps fix that, and having a text option would also help fix that.
