remnant 1 better
im missing the wepon mods summons, from the first game.
was so much more fun when everyone hade diffrent ones, playing there own thing.
the trait point is to low at 65, feels like no point playing when you cant get stronger anymore.

im kind of sad this game is not as god as the first one. or not even better.
feels alot shorter and for some reason amost everything is red al the time.
Hard to even see what your shoting at even in the smallest fight.

So play Remnant 1? It's still there.

I'd rather have summon skills than mod summon.
By the way we have 2 mod summons and one of them is atrociously bad.

Now summons are strong, stay as long as they're not killed, don't take your mod slot, and you actually have to care about them to make them stronger instead of just "I summon them and re-summon whenever available and they do their thing on their own"
They're no longer just "fire and forget", which is good

Too bad the dog's damage output was nerfed, but at least it opens up some synergies.

i agree, remnant 1 is better and more rewarding. In remnant 2 everyone seems to cheat, use exploits, broken interactions, bugs or other ways to advance in the game

Enjoying remnant 2 a hell of a lot more than the first one.

I think both are solid games, Remnant 2 still holds the same values as 1 but mixes it up a bit. Obviously they took away maxing every trait but in this way makes you really think about your build, on top of having way more interesting synergy between archetypes. It's got the same end game though, just way more puzzles/secrets and the combat feels more engaging with the introduction to skills. But if you don't like it right now I completely understand as they are trying to work out the bugs, it's been an upsetting trend with everyone releasing unfinished games just to meet the deadline. But give it time, I'm sure it will only get better once they work everything out.

Agreed with OP. Remnant 1 was a lot more fun.
This game, which crashes every 5 minutes, has been mostly just a frustrating experience. Nothing but fun in the first one. I'm really disappointed. I'm not sure I'm going to bother with this game anymore, it doesn't even run properly. ugh.

I prefere the combat in Remnant 2, but I must say I miss some of the mods from Remnant 1, like Blizzard, Incinirator, Unstable Quills or even Storm Caller. I am also not a big fan of the fact that a lot of mods are tied to specific weapons or the separation between skills and mods.

2 is better you need more time to find out what build is better to use in the game.

depends.
bosses are more fun in 2.
But 1 had way more fun weapons and mods, the zones are also a bit more, well i dont know what to call it, but looks better.
The only thing i personally liked the most was the class skills, they are seperate and doesnt require a weapon to be used in R2 unlike in R1 where you had to choose to use a class mod, or a weapon mod instead.

1 was a superior game, in terms of Fun.

2 as far as story, is equal.

Mechanics wise however, 2 is a solid F tier game.
They gutted too much.

Remnant FTA has a few DLCs to fill up the inventory with interesting stuff. As much as I love Remnant FTA, and miss some of the cool weapons and mods that's missing in Remnant 2, I'd have to say every other aspect is considerably better in Remnant 2.

Enemy types are more interesting in R2
World building/tile variation is better in R2
Bosses are generally better in R2
Character balance/limits is far better in R2 (you might prefer crazy broken tho...)
Secrets, puzzles and hidden stuff is far, far, far superior in R2

Remnant From The Ashes is still a very fun game. I always keep it installed because I get the urge to attempt a Hardcore run every so often.

I think Remnant 2 is a big achievement for them and is better in many ways, but gutting the trait system makes it feel like there's something missing. Additionally, scaling feels worse this time around somehow.

I played the first game hundreds of hours across two platforms. This game? Done after maybe 30. It was a good experience until I killed the final boss and had hit the trait point cap.

My favorite is still Remnant 1.

They didn't gut the trait system. They moved a large part of it to Archetypes. Try to math out the bonuses you get from two max archetypes and max trait and compare it. 4 rings and the 2 archetype skills are a massive game changer.

Bosses aren't just an endless trash mob waves. You get actual mechanics, one of which is mob wave(singular) to give you ammo. It cycles to other mechanics before throwing a mob wave at you to recover ammo.

If you dislike this, the old game is right there for you to play. If you're here complaining, it means you like the game overall enough to be playing this instead of the "superior" older one.

It's clearly not the same. The fun part about traits in R1 was long-term progression. Archetypes are good too, but they are something that is both easier to level up and isn't "on" all the time, you only have some of it at a time.

They went all out for build variety, which is fun too, but they did it at the cost of something else.

At the end of the day, it's about how much fun it feels to play, and for me the fun was way more front-loaded in this one, and it felt much less fun after hitting the trait cap.

This is a thread about someone liking the first game better, which IMO is totally legitimate discussion to have here, even if you don't like it.

I am following R2 from the sidelines because I actually do think they will be improving it in the time to come, and I will probably want DLCs if they make them. I don't hate the game at all, you see.
