Can't launch game, Error message missing Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime
I get this error message every time, "The following component(s) are required to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime" which I have installed. I've tried repairing it, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the file. I've tried verifying the files of the game, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game, restarted my system a ton of times, nothing will fix this error message. My system is well beyond the recommended settings in every category. So, I am forced with great displeasure to refund the game I was looking forward to playing. Meanwhile my friend is enjoying it no issues on his PC. I could buy this for PS5, but the devs so graciously decided not to have cross-play in 2023.

Then there's something wrong with your pc because it seems a small minority have the problem seeing as only 5 have posted here out of the 100's of thousands that bought the game
I have no idea, if its the same thing that makes some of the unity games not play then that is it... Don't think it would be file position since that would count many of them out of commision cause I have my steam library on an external drive

Then again those do play in a way. The sound works, the game even registers if I move my mouse around. But it just won't show me the game screen

No clue man without looking at your computer I wouldn't see if i'm able to fix the problem if you have multiple drives in your pc I suggest moving your steam games to a drive that doesn't have windows on it and reformatting your windows drive and doing a fresh install of windows I know it's drastic but if it still persists after that then it's definately the game that is acting up

For some reason... The steam EXE for it, is bugged. At least that is what I am getting cause a little digging in the files and I found the Remnant2-win64-Shipping.exe and it is running the game...
Not sure if its missing a main menu or if it is suppose to just go to character creation and into the game right away

OK, to clarify, of course my friends and I have Epic and Steam linked first thing we did. The firewall is not the issue. When I bought the game on Steam and got the Visual C++ Runtime is missing, I already had that installed with the most recent version since always pretty much. I tried to uninstall it and it wouldn't uninstall. I tried reinstalling it and it wouldn't reinstall without an error saying it was missing a file. The thing that makes no sense is why the game didn't have a Visual C++ issue on Epic but it does on Steam. I even tried this; I added Remnant 2 to my Steam library as a non Steam game. I tried to run it from Steam and the same issue popped up, Visual C++ Runtime missing. So, it's definitely a Steam issue and not my PC.

If you are still doing steam version dig in the files for the Remnant2-win64-Shipping.exe it played for me... and likely what I am going to use to replace the EXE that steam uses.

Unfortunately I no longer have the game through Steam, I have it through Epic and past the point to refund it. And despite the Dev's saying you can cross play with Steam and Epic, you can't because; Error EOS_InvalidUser every single time. My friends on Steam can't even invite me. I am just forever doomed to never enjoy the game as I bought it to play with my friends. Thank you for the help though Mighty Pancake. If your suggestion worked, I wish I had known about it days ago. Idk why playing the game had to be so difficult through Steam...

Yeah, it's a Steam issue because the game runs no issues through Epic and if I add Remnant 2 to my Steam library as a non-Steam game and try to run it through Steam I get the same Visual C++ error. Unfortunately for me I long since refunded the game on Steam and have been playing on Epic. So, this fix that some people say worked I won't get to try. And despite the Dev's saying that Steam and Epic can play together, and linking accounts, Steam and Epic can in fact not play together due to some EOS error... But thank you for posting what seems like an actual fix.

Also, I tried multiple times to uninstall the 2015-2022 C++ and it won't. I tried just installing it over the old file and it didn't install. I tried repairing the file and it wouldn't repair. But, I have the file and always have. Idk why Steam and Epic did it like this... I just wanted to play with my friends.

I had to actually re-install Windows to fix the issue. Because somehow some of my files had gotten corrupted, even though they didn't say they were. I couldn't do anything with the Visual C++. But re-installing Windows fixed the issue. Thankfully that process isn't so bad these days with the cloud and how Windows works.
