Stagger
The character staggering is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ overblown and painfully excessive.
Every light gust of wind slaps the player around, while enemy stagger is inconsistent, even with the greatsword...

When you have sections with infinite ad spawning and these ads easily stagger spam, while, in most cases, you are fighting a boss/mini-boss, this is not fun nor enjoyable...

Big ♥♥♥♥ off enemy staggering the player makes sense, he is a big ♥♥♥♥ off enemy...

BUTTTT

The ads/trash should not stagger the player, especially when fighting a big ♥♥♥♥ off enemy.

This is my only complaint with the game.
I am genuinely enjoying it, besides this annoyance.

Go play Dark Souls. EVERY enemy staggers you easily. This game is basically Dark Souls with guns.

I'm also pretty sure that your rocking some light armor set that isn't meant to prevent stagger. There are heavy armor sets that allow you to tank a hit or two and not be affected. Also a certain class *cough* challenger *cough* is meant to be tanky and fight through stagger.

Honestly sounds like you chose the wrong class if you're running head first into enemies and expecting trash mobs not to stagger you. Or maybe you're just not dodging enough? That magical button called Spacebar dodges by the way.

Dark Souls has Poise...

Chose Challenger, use the greatsword, still staggered by a thought from the enemy.

Cant dodge when you are staggered...

apparently you have found no -stagger items or heavy armour.
but also.....i mean i gotta say it....thats why there is a dodge button ;)

........for ♥♥♥♥'s sake....
I will try again...

Challenger class + greatsword + heavy armor = still get stagger locked by ad spam when fighting bosses/mini-bosses.

Dodging in Heavy Armor is slower and has stam cost penalty, since it heavy armor does not give anything like poise, this exacerbates the problem.

Hell, I would be happy with a stat that increased stagger resistance or have heavy armor provide poise.
Naamtar Jul 23, 2023 @ 4:31pm
Heavy armor does grant stagger resistance, though.
Solx Jul 23, 2023 @ 4:57pm
I could have a bug then.
I am on Root Earth and everything is causing stagger.

I second this.
I am using greatsword + Leto's armor (probably the heaviest at the game).
My equiment weighs 75kg.
And yet a sickly peasant with a makeshift spear makes me staggered?

Look, I don't mind if a huge abberation is pushing me around, it makes sense.
But I got 200 armor and 20 of each resistance — I expect not to be staggered by a freaking buttefly doing a casual flyby

The stagger stats need to be looked at
Sigs Jul 24, 2023 @ 8:40am
Leto's armor specifically in the first game granted stagger resistance. A couple amulets/rings added a level here or there. The first game had a couple levels of it and it worked like Flinch Free in MH games. The people ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on your post, just ignore them, as they have no idea what they are talking about.

This game has i think 1 stagger level protection that I've seen, and it doesn't protect you from the attacks I think you're talking about, just light flinches. It's still pretty good, but it won't fix the disgusting stagger on some of the boss moves that locks you in place for 3-5 seconds and kills you.

Just having heavy armor on doesn't give you stagger protection. only DR.

The stagger in this game is really bad and way worse than in dark souls, get hit once solo and you are likely stagger locked until death and enemies will pop out of the ground or things behind you making it very easy for this to happen. The stagger is honestly pretty wild, there is no recovery often times.

Yeah, I have been playing with the bulwark buff and a bulwark ring and I still get chain staggered to death when there are ads or if the enemy uses lightning attacks.

I agree the stagger is terrible

There are two type of stagger in this game. Most range attacks are fine but some melee attack will stagger you forever and it's definitely overturned as I have never seen such a long stagger time in any soul game.

Especially consider the game was actually designed for us to fight against horde of enemies, this is not okay. It might be fine in lower difficulty but it's definitely not okay in higher difficulties. Especially how enemies in this game can spawn from any where.

My dude, use some abilities.

Several reduce or even totally negate stagger while active.
I'd highly suggest the Medic's shield+regen ability, kicks ass for handling sudden spikes in enemy damage output and lets you push through most attacks.

This game departs from Remnant 1's armor having distinct traits itself and rings, whilst useful, aren't quite as broken as they were before. Classes and their abilities are wot shine here.

Bulwark is just Damage resist. Not poise

I gave up on melee focus, despite finding some great melee stuff in the last zone. While in some ways it's expanded, there are still enemies that are nigh unreachable with melee, or cannot be significantly damaged as their body is armoured and you need to hit the weakpoint. Became frustrating to switch equipment every 20 minutes. It's very much great in certain scenarios, but not dependable.

If you go ranged, a lot less inventory and resource management.
