The idea that you think I feel "owed" this feature is some kind of weird self-reflective nonsense too. I actually agree with the logic that not every game needs it.... but those games that shouldn't have it are the kinds of games where you could hop in on a different account griefing (or cheating) in a way that endangers the playerbase or game economy (neither of these things matter in a non mmo, non pvp style game where the default setting is friends-only coop as an option.
lol what, dev either lets you share it or not, it's up their discretion
If i buy a physical game, i can bring said game to my friends house perfectly fine. This would just be the PC version of that. Though i agree, the game should have it.
Like it or not, if they exclude family sharing on this kind of game, it's going to hurt sales in a big way.
I can at least rationalize mmo and pvp games where you could exploit a given system using an alt account (or make a "free" twink, etc). But definitely the point stands that it makes no choice for a game like this.
They're fielding 1000's of reports a day as is, because (obviously) EAC can't keep their database in line with what's out there in real time. No VAC on the game means no account sharers getting banned, so they eliminate it as a possibility.
I'm not simping for share blocking, just pointing out that there are those cases where it works out fine. There are plenty of games out there with tacked on pvp that still allow sharing (of course many of them come with their own host of issues related to sharing and banning). Look at any Fromsoft title. I've been banned from DS3 before just for unknowingly having a cheater join my lobby. Until I got that ban overturned, account sharing was also disabled. Yet these games where pvp maintains a rabbid following, allow sharing.
It's an inelegant solution to a problem that has no real fix. At the end of the day the factor that probably has the most impact is (greed). There's definitely no real way to justify it overall (least of all in a primarily single player game)
Nah it works now.
